Just about done at Villa.

If we are serious about promotion we should be crawling over brken glass to fetch him in before the season starts.

Thanks for keeping us up Jos.

Steve Bruce is a pragmatic 57 year old manager who favours 3-5-2 and has been promoted to the top flight on 4 occassions with two different clubs. He has previously walked away from clubs when he fell out with the chairman over transfers.

Jos Luhukay is a pragmatic 54 year old manager who favours 3-5-2 and has been promoted to the top flight on 3 occassions with 3 different clubs, once with a record points total. He has previously walked away from clubs when he fell out with the chairman over transfers.

I'm note quite sure they're sufficiently different to rip up all pre season plans with under a fortnight to go until the end of the transfer window and start of the season, pay out compensation to sack a whole coaching team and hire a new one.  THINK!!!!

What turmoil were they in?

The money problems are only affecting them now that the season is over. He had plenty to spend, far more than Carlos for example, and didn't get the job done.

When has he ever took on a job at a cash-strapped club that need to sell in order to buy? He is a cheque book manager. Not a bad one but not one with a proven track record or indeed any interest in working under our current circumstances. Plus I am sure he wouldn't command a high salary and pay off clause that would bite us on the bum.

He took over from RDM who had already spent a fair bit. They were doing badly and he managed to sort the dressing room out and integrate a few youngsters. He was fortunate to have Xia backing that change financially but he did halt a slide and ultimately got them to the play off final.

No, you're right.

And Chansiri doesn't like sacking managers he's appointed, as we learnt to our cost last season.

Can't take the loss of face.

It almost got us relegated.

Their records are very similar, although Jostling Jos did it sausage-side.

They did a damn sight better than us - even with all the turmoil they were in.  Quality manager with stacks of experience in getting teams outof the division.

Rather than an unknown quantity

He's still a two hat though

Good manager and pound for pound one of the best if not the best at this level.

Personally I think it’s a different job here now to the one it was at the start of Chansiri’s time at the helm.

We probably need a more pragmatic manager who is prepared to work with players that are already here and be more prepared to trust in youth. The early days of Jos’ time in charge suggests the manager we need is already here?
