FUP not FFP

Recommended Posts

FFP is actually FUP. Ie Financially Unfair Play.

The big cubs already with money and in the Champions league are the only TRUE beneficiarys of FFP as they get external income from TV money to aid their purchases and cover losses.

Gone are the days of a rich person investing ala Jack Hayward in his boyhood club and creating a dream team.

Man city, Man Utd, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool et Al are not truly affected by FFP. They probably never will be.

So long as a club isn't running up actual debts and as long as the owner has capital to invest on a no strings basis, why should they not be allowed to spend their fortune on getting their team promoted . Yes there is an issue of sustainability should they pull out, but if they were allowed to prove funds existed to fulfill existing contracts should they decide to sell, then they should be allowed to buy who they like.

Rumours are being spread that chansiri has no cash which according to his company wealth is not true. It's just simply a case of him not being to use his own money.

Completely agree.  Whilst it's under the disguise of stopping clubs going out of business, which lets face it is a good thing.  In my view it's there to ensure the elite remain the elite and prevents anyone with a wealthy owner from gatecrashing their party.

FFP is an absolute joke, football is a business just like any other always has been. FFP has nothing to do with helping clubs avoid going bust,  their are more clubs at the bottom end of the leagues getting in to difficulty likes of Hartlepool etc. Not as if they spent millions. All about maintaining premier league clubs having a unfair advantage. I would think the FL will not do anything just in case the PL say ok from now on no relegation and while we are at it we are going to start PL 2 and invite 18 teams from the ELF. Overnight the ELF becomes a minor league.

My own view is that of owners are willing to place money in Escrow they should be allowed to spend what they want.

In my world, owners would be able to spend what they want (not on a loan basis, it has to be put into the club without liability). In addition, an amount matching the previous 3 years losses has to be put in escrow which would give the club time to escape the huge wage bills etc left behind if an owner goes belly up or walks away.

The FFP rules that we are subject to are set by the Football League and have nothing at all to do with teams in the Premier League.

I dont think Wednesday should be using FFP rules as an excuse.

Huddersfield have proved you can stay within FFP rules, get promoted and not have £40 tickets as well.

This ^^^

let’s get on with it, get fit, stop feeling sorry for ourselves, play well, beat the opposites and get promotion.
