£99 or £59 for the new shirt

Recommended Posts

The levels of pomposity on this thread flipping stink. If people want to complain about shirt prices, then let them - does not make them any less a fan! In my opinion, £59 for a championship shirt made by an in house company is quite frustrating, so people will complain. And to make it even worse .. we are now stepping in to "player pro shirt" territory like some of the big guns. Facking hell.

I've complained before about shirt prices since we started upping the price when we had chuffing sondico for a kit supplier and wanted fans to spend £55!!!!!!

Shirts should be £40-£45 maximum. Especially given the fact that we now bring out a shirt every season and do it with 3 different kits. If we had one for a few seasons, then yeah £59 and £99 would be fine. And kids shirt should probably be about £20-£25 tops an all!

Soon we'll see a pro shirt prices hitting triple figures and pushing the £150 boundary while normal shirts will be around £70-£80 made by some unknown company you've never heard all, all on the premise that the club need to be as profitable as possible.

Don't get me wrong .. love the new shirt. think it looks great. Don't love the pricing though.:carlosswfc::carlos:

Completely agree.

Never thought I'd see Wednesday fans touting a shirt for being "Just £59". Have we completely lost touch with our working class roots? Aren't fans p***ed off about being fleeced anymore?

For those only too happy to pay these prices because 'It's how you should support your team', then thanks for nothing. You're the reason clubs get away with charging extortionate prices like £59 for a shirt. A SHIRT, FFS.

Have to agree that a lot of the reason clubs charge so much for tickets, kits etc is people always end up buying them.

If people didn't pay any more then say £40 for the new club shirt that is what the price would be.

The thing is people banging on about it being unbranded so should be cheaper are either morons or kids.

The shirt should be whatever the correct price is I'd say under £50 for normal and tbh the pro-fit whatever is market price.

The manufacturer of a football shirt is irrelevant it's the quality that matters so to anybody who has it what's that like?

Totally incorrect - its about buying a brand, and about buying a brand recognised, and with a history, for providing quality sportswear. And along with that a range of additional sportswear for sale in the club shop.

And those sportswear manufacturers pay through the nose to be associated with football clubs like ours. The savings we are making by going with a non recognised brand are minimal - and judging by the amount of shirts we are still trying to shift - not popular either

Really surely SWFC are the brand?

Genuinely feel embarrassed for adults who buy clothes based on the label not quality of product.

It’s a good quality shirt I don’t see the problem. Every penny goes into the club you supposedly love which is what matters. I think we should be very appreciative of the loyal people who shell out for one of these shirts, they are obviously more committed to the cause than those who buy ‘regular’. Good on them I say.

To be honest, as I play a fair bit of 5 a side footy and attend matches, this shirt will get worn plenty of times during the next 12 months.

Compare it to a shirt or polo shirt from next or something which costs 60 quid, id probably wear 3 or 4 times in a year before getting beer or kebab down it.

Plus, it supports the club I love by adding vital money into the coffers, it let's me fly the flag of the team I support whenever I wear it, it's something I will keep and wear for years and years.

It's not a bad price all things considered in my opinion.

Meh.

There are 2 brands involved in a football shirt - often 3. The sponsor

A shirt has to accomodate all 3 brands while considering the promotion of the brand - the person wearing it should be considered also.

Thats why Milan refused to allow our clubs brand to be damaged by associating with a payday loans company.

Not so sure about Next - but when I buy shirts I tend to buy a classic design from Ralph Lauren or Lacoste. They cost around £60 for a polo shirt - and £99 for a shirt.

I have shirts from them that wash perfectly every single time, always look new, and some of them are 10-12 years old. Its the price of quality - and I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of Primark sheite wouldnt see a year out. That and the fact they have some poor kid working for 1$ a week to produce it.

I think it’s just down to being a Sheffield thing to be as cheap and frugal as possible. Other clubs up and down the country would have no problem with these prices but unfortunately folks from Sheffield seem to have this entitlement that you should get whatever you want on the cheap.

Shame on you, be a proper human for once and go buy the £99 shirts to show you actually support this club will you?
