Jordan Rhodes to move from #SWFC to Norwich City?

I guess the point is that their contribution to his wages could cover two signings for us on loan or on a free. That would help us more than Rhodes being sat on our bench for a year. Also any loan move will come with an option to buy so should he do well we'll then benefit financially.

Sure Norwich might be a competitor next season but the reality is we are not in a financial position to hold onto a high earning player who we do not play simply to stop him playing for someone else.

Get you being all sensible and logical. You're on the wrong site mate!

People moan we don't get money for our players then moan we try and get some money from a club who need a striker and just sold a couple of their players for hefty fees.

Club can't win.

This is OT mate ......

It’s the norm!

Wednesday want a £3 million loan fee for Rhodes and then theres the issue of his 50 grand a week wages.

Norwich must be absolutely insane if they pay that kind of money for Rhodes.

He's worthless now.

Thanks to our bonkers owner, Rhodes has three years left at Wednesday. He's guaranteed at least £8 million and there's nothing we can do about it if he decides to sit out his contract.

No other club will even pay him ten grand a week anymore. He's past it. It's clear from his performances that he's no interest in the game. He Intentionally gets into positionz where he won't get the ball. The few occasions he gets it he deliberately gives it away.

Last season he had at least 15 one on one's and didn't score any of them.

What does that tell you?

Any team that takes Rhodes will probably play in straitjackets.

The big question is why did our owner enter into such an appalling contract who failed so badly. We actually rewarded a failure with an improved deal and paid more for him than boro did.

In the real world his price should have gone down.

Our owner paid more.

What a club.

That's not a bad message to get across in fairness.  Sets us up for any potential raids on our best players.

But it could be a problem if it means we cant bring any new players in because we cant get anyone out this window.

We have had some bizarre situations in our time but this one tops them all.

our all time record signing and pretty much the most prolific goal scorer in our league in a generation. 20 goal a season banker. That is what we all thought we had signed.

roll forward a couple of years and we are looking at big adthe as our number 1 striker and wondering who is mad enough to take what looks like a finished player in Rhodes off our hands for any price north of two groats and a tracksuit.

i am convinced the problem he has is in his head. That missed pen in, I think , his second or third game, it seemed to knock him back and he didn’t really do much after that.

Its clear we don’t need him if we can keep adthe, hooper and ff fit.

Makes a change from flogging players on the cheap - Antonio etc

Also it's a negotiation - we say we want £3m, they say £1m, we meet somewhere in the middle or we don't

Antonio went for 1.6m and Rhodes 3m for one season.  Jeez. 2m and they pay his wages = snatch Norwich hands off....

Norwich don’t want to pay the £3million loan fee or the majority of his wages it seems. Maybe they think they should get him on loan for free and they should only pay him £10k per week?

Based on last season, how much would YOU pay as an owner?

Not a chance.  Pay up or shut up ala Garry Hooper

Based on last season why are Norwich even interested?

I agree but Clubs will do anything to bring in strikers who they think can score goals. They will think they can turn him around and he can bag them 15 goals plus.

For the record, I don’t rate the guy one bit. He needs to move on - he won’t get in our 18 man squad next season.

Who cares?  Be done with him, mark it off as a multi-million dollar mistake, and move on.  The mistake is not on Mr. Chansiri, it's on his advisors.  DC is now into his 4th season, he's not jumping ship because last season was a failure, save for when Jos stepped in and stopped the possibility of 3rd Division football, (or whatever it's called these days), DC is all a person could ask for in an owner.  DC didn't know Jordan Rhodes from a hole in the ground, his advisors advised him.....and here we are.  Move on, DC did, towards the end of last season.  Expensive mistake, surely, but nothing that will bring down SWFC.

Three million would be a phenomenal bit of business. If it gets us out of the spending hole this summer and forms a ~35% reduction in the total impact of this pretty catastrophic deal then... amazing. Two million sounds more likely but even that is unbelievable really.
