Strong rumours that the Norwich City thing might actually be the real deal and that Jordan Rhodes might be off on a season long loan to Carrow Road

Be interesting (if true) how much of his wages they're able to cover

Unless they cover all and a big loan fee. What's the point of risking him scoring 30 goals.

As above post - my gut feeling says DC would probably settle for chalking off year one transfer losses as a hard-learned lesson, and if he can break even over what would've been the next two seasonal payments back to Boro, then he'll probably take it.

I guess the point is that their contribution to his wages could cover two signings for us on loan or on a free. That would help us more than Rhodes being sat on our bench for a year. Also any loan move will come with an option to buy so should he do well we'll then benefit financially.

Sure Norwich might be a competitor next season but the reality is we are not in a financial position to hold onto a high earning player who we do not play simply to stop him playing for someone else.

if you have a player you don't want /need you cant just keep him coz you fear he may do well elsewhere …...if he was to score 30 goals for a Norwich then it would be fair to assume they may want to keep him , we may even get our money back ……..there's absolutely nothing to lose by sending him out on loan

Trouble is Norwich are in the driving seat if they are the only club interested in him, and to some extent have us over a barrel.

They might be offering to pay only a quarter of his wages and at the end of the day if they are the only club interested they can offer what they want, especially if they are aware we need to move him on due to FFP or to be able to bring any new players of our own in.

he's our player and if they want him it's up to us whether he goes or not …...i'd have thought that puts us in the driving seat .

They sign Rhodes on loan from us but buy Marshall from Wolves. We need to remember Norwich will be our competition next season how will we feel if Rhodes fires them to the play off and we finish just outside.

I am all for cutting costs and offloading players not needed but this could be a big mistake. Ala Winnall last season unless getting rid of Rhodes allows us to strengthen the defence and right wing with the savings on salary and maybe a loan fee.
