Mark Bright Goals

Recommended Posts

Brilliant striker for us........brave, commited, never bullied, guaranteed 20 goals a season and a perfect foil for DEH, yet all the majority of Wednesdayites can say when his name is mentioned is "what abaht that miss in replay".

Definitely a what coulda been moment, but dont let it cloud what a superb signing he was.

Fans used to focus on the chances he missed rather than the goals that he scored. I think he was the last player to score 20 goals or more in a season for us before MacLean did in 2004/05 and only Mellor has scored 20 goals or more for us since then. Says it all for me what a underrated and undervalued player he was for us.

Mellor did he score 20 for us?

Fantastic player for us, led the line admirably for about 4 seasons. Hopefully Jos can unearth someone like him for next season if he hasn't already!

He wasn't a sh*t liner Steve.

He had a fantastic all round forward game imo.

Not a lot of gas..but I'm quibbling really.

A very good all round game, his hold up play was second to none. Fantastic first touch laying it off for others around him as well. poo liner for his goals no doubt about that but he was a superb striker. Just ask Ian Wright who his best partner was. They were a "right" combo at Palace.

Guilty as charged m’lud - I can’t get past that miss. Weird given that his goal got us there in the first place.

Maybe I am also bitter that his injury time goal for Palace ended our title hopes in 91/2.

Likewise, when we drew with Palace to go down, as pundit he was clearly Palace biased.

He also replaced Paul Williams who was a fan favourite.

Last but but not least, he was the opposite of a graceful player - basically a fairly slow tap in specialist. (some do nowt but look good being ineffective).

Thus despite him being a good player for us I never think of him as a Wednesday legend which is, as I say, my fault not his.

A superb striker.  What I loved about him is how many tap ins and open goals he scored. Always in the right place at the right time, something that you can’t teach to strikers.  What I’d give for a Bright like striker now.
