Jos: DC got it right.

Have to admit I was one of those jos doubters.

However it's clear to see he has got it right when it mattered most.

Does he actually have a contract for next season ?

Hope he has a deal. Anyone who can get Atty going should be rewarded.

Apart from kids he's brought on well, Joao and Reach look to have really improved their game under Jos.

Next he'll have Rhodes running and Abdi healthy and playing well.

Jos has really done well - given shambles he found.

Not lack of fitness, injuries. I'll keep saying it but injuries were the decisive factor and it's easy to forget how many we had.

Hooper out, FF and Lee not fully fit, Wallace off after 5 mins, Fletcher off injured after scoring and Hutch with a ruptured hernia.

Three of those less than fit players took penalties and two of them were saved whilst we had fit players not prepared to step up to the plate. Also Fletcher and Wallace would have taken pens if still on the pitch.

We were unlucky just like we were lucky the year before when Brighton suffered lots of injuries.

The team struggled due to a lack of fitness which was a contributing factor to players picking up injuries. You can understand long-term injuries due to broken bones but the majority of ours were soft tissue injuries.

A lack of fitness also leads to the players not being on it mentally. Doubts creep into players minds questioning if they can make that tackle, beat that player, keep up with an opponent for 90 minutes. Our players often looked crushed and maybe cast a worried look towards the treatment room wondering if they were next.

Next season we will see big changes but we will see a squad of players ready to hit the ground running from the start.

It was November December time I think. Don't  know the exact amount of games but remember it being a good few. Carlos went shortly after I think.

Thanks for that and thanks for the help

I can only remember one game in that period where we didn't have a single shot on target and that was against Bristol City. The month of November we had a total of 5 shots, which is poor but 5 more than what was stated in the post. Somehow, we managed to go through that period unbeaten.

November stats

Villa away = 2 shots, 2 goals

Bristol City home = 0 shots, 0 goals

Ipswich away = 2 shots, 2 goals

Reading home = 1 shot, 0 goals

Think it was the Hull game where it was quoted that we had the same amount of shots in one match than we did in the whole of the previous month.

CC should have been dismissed for that asinine substitution alone.

We were flipping ROLLING after Fletcher's goal.  Marauding into HTFC's half with little trouble.  They were on the ropes.

Then Carlos makes a completely tone-deaf substitution, tempo resets, and momentum flipping lost forever.

Enrages me still thinking about it.

Your desire to blame CC results in you ignoring the facts.

Fletcher was injured and that's why he was substituted. That's one of the reasons why I think we were a little unfortunate as he was causing problems all night.

Fletcher was injured?

first I have heard of it. He looked as surprised as anyone when the tactical genius took him off 7 minutes after scoring

Perhaps your preconceived thoughts have not allowed to follow what actually happened. He was not surprised when he went off he was injured - check it out.

Amazing how many medical experts there are on here.

You may however be correct in what you say but a lot of our injuries have not been soft tissue injuries. Of the ones I quoted Lee, FF, Hutchinson and Fletcher do not fall into the soft tissue category.

A lot of posters say he will get Rhodes firing again.

To me it seems like he does not rate Rhodes? His selection appears to say so,

Should have gone after the steel city derby or a week or two afterward.

Was pretty apparent that Carlos couldn't get a tune out of the players anymore and our ability to even grind opposition down was deserting us.

But what's done is done and Jos is looking like a decent appointment so far.

The problem was he was injured before he started and therefore never going to last 90 mins.

Along with Wallace who had to be substituted after 5 mins and several others.

This meant we had to use our subs and couldn’t replace Pudil who was obviously shattered and couldn’t prevent the equaliser .

Couldn’t ageee more we should have been pushing top 2 last season imo the league wasn’t as strong as year before or this season. After an impressive first season where we attacked and pressed, CC decided he wanted to be Jose the 2nd and be all cagey and bored the boobies off us all

So the three teams who’ve stayed in the premier this year were poor? Give over

Didn't say anything of the sort here:

I take it all back with shooting accuracy like that we should be winning the league lol still 5 shots on target in 4 games coupled with the dire negative football wasn't great. Better than zero though I guess.

Was very satisfied with the Jos appointment after watching his first few games in charge. You could see the foundations of what he was trying to do tactically, albeit through the fog of the vast number of problems he inherited.

If he has a free hand in recruitment, with reasonable and sensible financial support, I fancy our chances to go up under the quiet wee fella.

1 How would they know whether he was injured or not?

2 Do you really believe everything you read in the Guardian?

3 Fletcher was injured - how many times do you need telling?

4 None of it matters now anyway.

I don't want to be ok next season I want to see us challenging for promotion again. Don't understand why anyone thinks we shouldn't be.

With hindsight, think you are right.

But can you imagine grief - especially on here - if we ditched Carlos after second play offs in 2 years.

Agree with this. Said the other day on here you set a dangerous precedent if you sack a manager after your best season for 20 years.

Out of interest, when did this happen????

I can only recall the time we went 7 or 8 games without a goal under Sturrock but definitely remember having a few attempts on target?

There's this rather feeble period...

2016/7

Derby (h)                  2

Ipswich (a)                2

Fulham (h)                2

Huddersfield (a)        0

Huddersfield (h)        3

2017/8

Preston (a)                1
