Charles Clegg 1851 -1937 seen in the hooped shirt of ’The Wednesday’ around 1878. Played for Wednesday and England. Played in the first international against Scotland in 1872 .Later becoming president of both Wednesday and Sheffield United. Became chairman of the Football Association in 1890 and president in 1923.He was knighted by King George V in1927 generally regarded as the first person to receive a knighthood for services to football.

He is one of the 65 players included in the 150 years anniversary painting by Alan Rolfe which is available as a superb quality print £55.00 plus £5.00 p&p.
