Yep. If we had won that night we would have got promoted, we waited a few more days and got the job done against Bristol City. We took over 6k to Port Vale that night.

Oh, good Lord! What fantastic memories!

I only wishI could go back and tell my younger self: " Youthink this is second class but it is beauty and purity compared to the money grabbing mindless poo that is to come. Sorry. They won't let you say poo so you have to say sh****te.

What a load of pathetic boll******cks

Remember port vale away late 70s/80s .. when thommo tried to take their end on his own 😬😳…always seemed to be trouble at port vale

Yeah I remember that. He was taken off their end and being escorted around the pitch when they all surged diwn at him. So he just jumped back in and started windmilling, they scattered everywhere.

Funniest thing I'd seen.

Top Man Tommo.

I wonder why there are so many nutters supporting Port Vale , I was also there in 1991 , bank holiday Monday if I remember , went with my brother in the car and not 2 mins after we'd parked up we got there lot having a go , took me by suprise tbh as I'd not expected it , had been all over that season but not accounted anything like that.

Dennis Leman was a warrior and used to chip in with a few goals. The team was in it's early Big Jack transition days to a more aggressive, pressing and direct style. It took him another year or so as we always seemed to have good results followed by rubbish ones, but he got in the end.

Your location name and that match took me back to that sunny day - we had a session in Bakewell then got lost getting to Stoke. Taxi driver didn't even know where it was.

It’s a rough place ,stoke fans were usually somewhere in the mix as well.

I was at that Monday night game and can't remember any bother at all, but then I was a teenage mostly buswánker in those days. I do recall nearly getting a plastic Batman figure in the face when some bright spark decided to chuck it instead of the cuddly toys which were the thing at that time, I was at the back of the terrace when it clattered off the corrugated iron about a foot from my head.
