Sean Clare future in doubt

For me, getting Hirst and Clare signed up, is one of the most important issues right now After the recruitment debacle of the last two years, we need to see that lessons have been learned A younger, more dynamic profile for the squad, is the way forward, and as these two are the poster boys of our development programme, it’s imperative that we keep them

At the end of the day, both players have been offered new contracts. The club obviously believe they have offered the right price, so it’s up to Hirsty and Clare and their representatives. If they don’t want to stay, then what else can the club do? Personally I’d love them both to stay, realistically I can’t see either staying. They no doubt think they’ve EARNED the right to demand high wages, having played a handful of first team games between them!?!

WTF:

Letting Hirst train with his peers might have been a start.

Wouldn't have made the slightest bit of difference as his head was turned by the premiership youngsters at the England meet ups, he simply doesn't want to be here, he's seen the brighter lights outside Sheffield, nothing wrong with that in itself, we all want to better ourselves

True, but we don’t know what went off between young Hirsty and the club representatives. I doubt they’d freeze him out just for 5hits and giggles!

C’est la vie!

Well our manager disagrees with you.  Look at his interview

That’s called keeping player’s egos in check and keeping a talented young lad’s feet on the ground.  Jos will know what a big future Clare could have ahead of him.

MOTM performance that day.

We don’t know what they are asking for, though in Hirst’s case, his father said they weren’t far apart, and his son was keen to sign Guess the thing that winds me up, is the millions we’ve spaffed on a load of has beens, and yet we make a stance over a few grand

What better , paying a little more in wages to make sure we keep hold of our best young prospects . or wasting £30k a week on old, injury prone crocks. ?

How much a week do you think should be our limit for Sean Clare  ?.

Whilst Clare is still raw and in the next stage of his development he offers something that none of our other central midfielders offer in that he is drives the team forward with his willingness to run at opponents.

Yeah but wouldn't you rather pay top dollar to watch Jones and Buttercup boss our midfield:duntmatter:

Frankly, what dad says should invite just as much scrutiny as any supposed parsimony from SWFC over youth contracts.

In other words, really don't think he's a source of truth in all this.

If Clare had played like that for us at 18 or 19 i'd be far more concerned.

This kid - and I use the term "kid" only because i'm twice his age - still could be a good player, maybe in the Premier.   But then many managers of SWFC have said the same about Palmer and look where he is......still being a bit part player in what is currently a mediocre championship side.

Clare has a few questions he needs to ask himself.

Does he see a better future for himself away from SWFC?

Does he see a good future for himself at SWFC?

Does he think the ambitions of SWFC match his own?

Does he think the ambitions of SWFC exceed what he thinks he can achieve?

Is it just about money?   Does he have short term desire to earn more?

It's not that binary though mate.

Pelupessy young and cheap. Is he good enough though? Is Clare a Championship player?

I'd rather pay Bannan three times either of em.
