hirst to united

Mourinho hasn’t exactly done an incredible job of bringing through young strikers at United. Rashford’s career development has stalled because he has to sit on a bench behind a player who’s no better than him but gets played because he was a big money buy.

The best prospects in the championship are players like Sessegnon and Brooks who didn’t jump for the big club move at the first time of asking and instead gave themselves time to develop. Half our strikers are surplus to requirements anyway, Hirst would be best to stick around and have a  proper crack at breaking in next season under a manager who isn’t afraid of bringing through younger lads.

Wouldn't begrudge the lad a move like that although I can only see him getting loaned out for a few years.

At least it's a major club, Leicester would have been cutting his nose off to spite his face.

Whole thing has been a bun fight just hope we get reasonable compensation for him.

Nothing wrong with defence mechanisms. I can’t blame you. You don’t want to accept that losing young Hirst, will be seen as a huge c0ckup at a later date.

The only thing in doubt though is how long it will take before I’m proven right.

Neil, how am I doing?

How is it a huge wee wee tail up bigger club come in with more money down to him his dad and agent why he leaving

Good luck to him if this is true. This sort of rules out the "he's chasing money" argument as Manchester United are not one of the teams that chucks ridiculous amounts of money at young players.

All the best to him, it's every footballers dream to play for one of the biggest clubs in world football.

The only loser over in this whole situation- Sheffield Wednesday.

Good luck, hope :CEO:, gets a good deal and a decent sell on clause.

He isn’t being “sold”. His contract is up. Man United offer him terms, we have literally no control over that. They offer us compensation we either accept the package they offer or reject it and seek a different package from them via committee... which may or may not include a large upfront costs, add ons per progress and a sell on clause but again, that is out of our hands.

Basically the ball is in his court, we are powerless.

His dad wanted to go, but we said he was not for sale. This was the days before going on strike or kicking up a stink to get your own way.

That's not the story that was around at the time it happened...Hirst said he didn't want to go back then...I heard it on the radio at the time that he had decided against it...but course can't prove that now but can remember being very happy when it came on sport report on the radio...if he had wanted to go even back then he would have gone ...but time changes stories ...

Genuinely baffled by all these compensation figures being dreamt up.

Solanke’s move to Liverpool is expected to cost Liverpool £2m to £3m. Solanke came through Chelsea’s academy so didn’t cost Chelsea a transfer fee (just like Hirst here) and made just one substitute performance for Chelsea despite being established as an England U19 etc level player.

Anyone who thinks Hirst is anywhere near the player Solanke is wants to giver their head a wobble. If Liverpool end up paying more than £4m in compensation it will be ridiculous, just to add some perspective to those on here thinking we will get £2m up front and a host of add ons.

Dreamland stuff.

Hirst himself tells the story that he was simply told we had rejected a bid and that was that. Had we allowed him to he says he would have packed his bags in record time.

Sadly that would probably have been best for all concerned.

Only way we will get decent compo is if clauses are built in triggering payments upon certain achievements.

Absolutely guaranteed to end up as England’s no.9, and be worth an absolute fortune, in the future. Well done to all for letting it get this far.

Have you ever actually seen him play?

Even if you have :duntmatter:

If the club are smart we could make some money out of Hirst a few million now and a sell on. Sheff Utd and Barnsley didn't make loads selling their young players but made more when they were sold on.

If DC is smart accept a £2m fee with 15% sell on clause in a few years we make millions of he makes it.

If we are too greedy now it goes to tribunal and the fact we banished him to not play for us will go against us.

Now is the time for DC to use his business brain. We shall see if he has one.

He turned down a reported £2m from Leicester in the summer and then personally banned him from playing.

Thats how smart our chairman is.

No he is under 24 so it can go to tribunal unless the two clubs involve agree pain a fee. It is less costly for both sides to avoid a tribunal and easier. It does not matter if he is in contract or not no dreamland just common sense.
