He made 3 terrible decisions defensively in the first 15 minutes, showing ZERO defensive instinct or responsibility, and yet people are still calling for giving him MORE defensive responsibility at wing back.

 

Wherever he receives the ball or is around the ball- whether it's on the edge of our box or in the opposition half, he's not thinking about protecting the ball- he's looking to do something offensive. He does NOT have the discipline to play in defensive areas.

 

He does however have the ability to get beyond the strikers, to beat a man, to pick a pass and he has goals in him.

 

He's playing in the right position if we're going 352.

 

He can only really play left wing in a 442.

 

He could potentially play as the second striker in a 4411.

 

If we're talking this season and suggesting him playing there instead of Boyd, I can live with that, as Boyd is equally as inept defensively. If you want to see him there on a regular basis next season then you want your bumps feeling.

 

How fickle are some of our fans- one bad game and he's playing in the wrong position.A fortnight ago people were saying he was player of the year.

Looks burnt out to me and ideally could do with a rest. He’s won me over this season and some of the criticism is way over the top as per usual on here 

 

He carried us through jan/feb when others were awful

Some people have favourite who can do no wrong, while others are villains and the same people are blind to whatever they do that's right. Reach was reasonable at left wing or wide mid-field in a poor side and when moved inside had a purple patch but for last half dozen games he has been largely ineffective, just drifting around the pitch and waving his arms at others but for some he's the blue eyed boy and hence brilliant. He can't or won't tackle, doesn't work back, can't jump and apart from one "worldy" goal his shooting has been abysmal. He's a talented player but must work much harder but he's automatic choice on team sheet and so doesn't have to try. Drop/Rest him for one game, then play him on left and let the old Adam Reach show himself and supply two in form strikers.
