I still find it amazing that the vast majority of people still think that music is only about the commercialised crap that is played by the atrocious radio stations.

I'm only guessing here, but I'd imagine less than 10% of the population are actually aware of what 'proper' music is.

Don't listen to the absolute meaningless dross they force feed you on the radio folks

Completely agree. I would like to see Mr Walsh and Cowell flogged for their crimes against music. Some reyt bobbar in the charts

Proper music talent is when an individual or group make original compositions rather than sing cover versions. A proper music station is the one that plays them not recycling the same songs ad infinitum

So 6 Music

That's a great parody of a sixth former who's just discovered Nirvana and can't stuff their Michael Jackson posters in the bin fast enough. Almost note perfect!

Of course, as we all know, there's no such thing as 'proper' music or 'improper' music; there's just music. Just because it's obscure doesn't make it good. And just because it's popular doesn't make it bad.

Well said that man, I like ABBA.

Sorry, not a teche, too old, was a band formed for Eurovision song contest (quality), in 1974 beat our Olivia Newton John who performed the classic Long Live Love

which came  fourth, (vote rigging) , staged in Brighton (nice), and all us kids were allowed to stay up and watch (great).

Hope this helps.

Good for you. They're generally not my cup of tea, but they certainly knew how to write a catchy tune, didn't they?

 Not your cup of tea, well I suppose being an armchair music person (no gigs here), its comfy, and I do like a good Disco.

Oh, don't get me wrong, when I'm out in a retro club and they throw on a bit of 'Mamma Mia', it sounds great.

All music has a context and an audience somewhere out there.

They certainly did.

Some great hooks and riffs.

Never quite heavy enough for me.

Luckily thanks to the wonder of the Internet that's not a problem anymore ...best (or worst depending on your outlook) of both worlds.

There's tonnes of it. Out there.

The wife considers it blasphemy to hear metal covers of course.

Which makes it all the better.

Well what can I say,and that posted by a pillar of society, too many Cherry Brandies?

Take yourself to the outhouse, sit there and think on, come to your senses and get back into the flock of bell bottoms, and tank tops, thank me later.

PS, your not one of those crazy Rockers, are you?
