That's one hell of a result beating Leeds United away

And all without waving your arms about and having passionate fits on the touchline

Sod the haters

Jos is the man to keep us up

Bit harsh to bring this up a year on.

At the end of last season Jos had managed to pick up some good results and we seemed to have settled on a way of playing. Not sure about those predicting a promotion season under him though! :ghoulguy:

For whatever reason that went completely out of the window almost from day one this season with key players cast aside and different formations and line ups picked almost every week.

He only had himself to blame for his demise and it was so frustrating to watch week in week out. He should have gone weeks before he actually did and the only saving grace with him lasting so long this season was that Bruce then became available.

Not trying to name and shame but sometimes posts and threads are a bit throw away. I always find it interesting to see what opinions were at the time.

just glad we didn’t persevere and go along the lines of sticking with the manager adage.

It's not harsh; it's just pointless.

Luhukay did the job we needed him to do last season, and he did it very effectively, getting the kind of results which suggested we could be in with a chance of challenging for the playoffs after a full summer to work with the squad, and somehow turning Nuhiu into a free-scoring centre forward in the process.

We even started this season well, despite some apparently odd decisions, and sat in the top six after the first dozen games. Unfortunately, once the wheels came off, he appeared to have no clue how to return us to winning ways, and the writing was quickly on the wall.

There seems to be a binary approach to managers among some Owlstalkers, as if we need to pick sides and be either totally in favour of or totally against each incumbent, leaving very little room for shades of grey. Some want to paint Carvalhal as an awful manager, when the truth is that he brought some very talented players to our club and was pipped to promotion by a much more experienced and better-equipped team. There were plenty of things he did wrong, and the negative legacy of his tenure still lingers, but he - just like Luhukay - wasn't all bad all the time.

When he got key players back this time last year things seemed to turn in his favour but for whatever reason he decided at the start of this season to veer away from what worked in the run-in last.

As I've said before I could understand him going with Dawson in goal when it looked like Westwood might be leaving. Not reinstating Westwood once it became clear that he wasn't going anywhere plus preferring Pelupessy ahead of Hutch cost him his job in the end and us being in a better position to where we are now.
