jamthesun
Our defending was shambolic look at this still of their first goal. Which defenders were marking which strikers? Why did they have more men in the 6 yard box?
Donny El
Agree with should and could have done better . but dont agree with him staying on his line . the only time a keeper should be on his line is for a penalty Edited March 7, 2018 by Donny El
bigdan2003
Why can’t we score free kicks like that?
jonnyowl
Wildsmith is expecting a cross and positioned himself accordingly. If he stays on his line he probably saves that.
Owl Be Back
Should've had more than two men in the wall and he was positioned for the cross. I did have my head-in-hands when it went in though, however young keepers will make these kind of mistakes. Still think he's our future, in a good way. Sultan_Pepper
Wildsmith was expecting a cross, lack of preparation possibly. He's had a great half a season and shown his potential but if he's competing for the number 1 shirt I'd give Dawson a game on Saturday
matthefish2002
Waghorn was taking some wicked in swinging corners all night, was like I remember Andy Hinchcliffe taking for us. Knew when he gave the free kick we were in trouble. Wildsmith may have done better but think it was more well hit then bad goalkeeping. Doubt Westwood would have anything different apart from do that cringeworthy crossing himself before it was taken.
owlZfan84
Wildsmith is HUGELY overrated IMO.
Guest The Claw
sat on kop I saw it coming, poor preparation, why didn't someone stand with their player? same as the blunt free kick seems they arnt learning a thing
sweetsheri
it was perfectly flighted only way wildsmith is saving that is if he was 7 ft
OwlsItGoing
people saying Wildsmith should've covered it however dont take credit away from their player that pulled off a shot like that and lets not forget who gave away the free kick in that area. Not slagging Joe off he is our future.. but a few blunders recently and we need to rotate with Cameron for a few games.
dorian gray
i'd have joao in the as the third man in the wall, who's that stood there doing zip with his hands behind his back? you can't defend effectively with your hands behind your back, it's not ice skating. WalthamOwl
Should not be scoring a free kick from that position imo.
dorian gray
if wildsmith had been a yard further back, and a cross had come in on the six yard line, for an ipswich free headed, everybody would be wanting to know why he didn't come for it?, and i'll bet it would be suggested he was a yard too deep in his starting position. i didn't know we had so many expert goalkeepers on here. maybe he's where he is because he has little faith in those in front of him.
gypsyowl
Dawson should be our number 1, the lad has the lot
Cypriot Owl
A player on each post would make it a smaller target and easier to defend. I wonder why some of the simplest ideas are overlooked.

If he’d been stood further back and he’d scored at the near post fans would have been slating him for that. It was a very well executed strike that dipped at the last minute. Absolutely. Everybody knows where it's going after it's already ended up there. If he goes much further back there is also the possibility of curling it in directly at the near post and he'd get slaughtered for that even more thanks to the old cliche. 2 minutes ago, Cypriot Owl said: A player on each post would make it a smaller target and easier to defend.
