Guest Kagoshimaowl

Has to be 5 at the back. Our defenders and midfield get ripped apart in a 4-4-2.

Drop as much as possible from Saturday to teach them a lesson.

Why people chuck Hirst into a starting line up is beyond me ...   imagine 1 mistake from the lad in this toxic atmosphere

I know what you’re implying with the players and you’d think we’d have too much for Bolton with that line up but...We played that formation at Bolton with Reach at left back and  Bannan on the left of the diamond. Their manager pointed out how they planned for and exploited the weaknesses down our left hand side:

1. Reach isn’t a left back

2. Bannan would and did play central leaving Reach exposed.

3. Bolton pushed their right winger up on Reach

4. Bolton’s right back had been told to make a 2 v 1 (with their winger) on Reach as he was so isolated (see point 2).

Bolton carried out their plan and turned us over.

Sheffield Utd, although playing a different formation to Bolton employed similar tactics when we lined up in a diamond with Reach at left back and Bannan on the left of the diamond at Hillsborough this season.

Back to 3-5-2 after bristol spanking, neilson in for set piece threat, abdi holding as not fit enough for forward runs/covering flanks or bring him on for jones 2nd half.

Drop joey unless he can play right wing back

Dawson

........lees......neilson....thorniley

Palmer/joey................................Boyd

.............clare   Abdi...Reach

................Joao..Rhodes

Looks good, although need a Joey or Dave Jones in the middle of the 5 as a ball winner. Fred and Pudil are out right?
