@owlstalk
In the last two days, hundreds of panic calls have been made to Action 2000 following a milllennium bug feature on daytime chat show, This Morning. Richard Madeley, describing himself as a millennium "guru" gave the audience a peek into his millennium cupboard, which contained tins of food, candles and medical supplies. Warning people they faced a NewYear "without gas and water", Madeley recommended the stockpiling of at least 10 weeks worth of food. Condemned by Action 2000 as "irresponsible broadcasting" the campaign group is calling for Granada to make a follow-up programme to reassure viewers. No response from the producers of This Morning has yet been received. Owlstalk Shop
@owlstalk
Richard Madeley's kids talk about the millenium cupboard under the stairs.. For instance, we had a millennium cupboard because he was worried about the Y2K bug. He told us we were going to fill the bath and all the cupboards with supplies. It was just an excuse for Dad to buy a whole load of toys, like gas lamps and wind-up radios. He'd have a bomb shelter, if he could. Anything little and cool gets him excited. He went through a phase of buying magic sets and practising tricks. He collects binoculars as well - he even has a pair for the car. And telescopes. TrickyTrev
Looks like the worst of the snow could come on Friday. Would it really be such a bad thing if the Bristol game got postponed for a few weeks? I know they're on a bit of a slump at the moment but a few more weeks could mean the likes of Hooper, Bannan, Lees and perhaps even Forestieri could be in contention. @owlstalk
The Met Office has upgraded and extended its weather warnings for snow as the effects of the weather phenomenon known as the Beast from the East intensify. Warnings of snow have been extended to cover virtually all of Wales on Tuesday. Another weather warning has been put in place for the southern half of the country (everywhere south of Aberystwyth) on Thursday.
