I get that he is trying to protect the fit players that we have and that next week we have 3 big games..........................but are we seriously saying that Nuhiu and Joao could not have managed 45 mins each last night ?

If we’re just talking about last night, there’s no defence, he fooked up big time

That was pathetic, dropping key players that have been deserving of a start.

We are still fighting relagation its not an end of season experiment.

Away end packed midweek at Millwall, you have got to feel for you loyal lot that has paid good money to see that line up.

Fuming .

i'm wondering if the club is singing off a different hymn sheet to the fans.

we all appreciate the financial situation at the club (to some extent), but IF the club perceives we are safe, then doesn't the swansea game become the more important game of miwwaww, villa, swansea?

from the point of view of bringing money into the club, beating swansea and progressing would be the obvious choice for those in command, and sadly for us the lack of risk to forwards last night.

Seriously, how many clubs are successful when they continually sack managers. I'm sure even Dean Smith couldn't get much out of the players we have available to play.

He's English though...go figure. We had someone last night saying how much he hated him and calling him a weasel

That's far too sensible

Well some of our fans are as sh!t as they claim the team is. I like Dean Smith, I think he is a good manager but any manager would struggle with our available players at the minute.

We're solidly midtable.  We're going nowhere.

I don't mind some one off tactical experimentation.  This is Jos properly  sussing the squad in advance of this summer.

Playing 2 ageing wide men up front together was never, ever going to work. Some experiments simply don't need to be tried.

we as fans think of only results, the owner no doubt has to weigh the financial aspects firstly, especially as we appear as handy in the transfer market now as we were when MM was in the chair.

You would think, but that doesn’t tie in with carefree attitude towards cup competitions previously, or that he has veered away from the entertaining football

Is that the same Villa that we beat at their place ?

No its not, Bruce has got them playing some good stuff, and it shows with results.

My take on things still stands, if he now plays Joao and Reach is he then going to rest them for the Swansea game? our only game that has any real significance this

Season, it should have been done the other way round, play Joao and Reach last night give them a rest against Villa, then play them again against Swansea.

With this we could have won last night, maybe lose against Villa, but had a good side to take on Swansea.

Makes sense to me any roads.

Show some respect.

Im guessing you were happy when we had Irvine, Yorath etc in charge?

I cant believe how ungrateful some of our "fans" have become.

if we didn't want to play what few strikers we have available to the present first team, surely someone, somewhere at the club who plays up front was available to lead the line?

if we're into the reserves then is there no one at all in the youth set up capable of earning a chance?

Last night wasn't great, but if you had offered me 3 points from Derby and Millwall I would have snatched your hands off. He tried something new last night, didn't work, move on. At least he has the guts to try something new.

Logic suggests Joao doesn't need resting 10 days after 1 game, but I don't know as I don't work at Sheffield Wednesday. As long as we stop up this season is ok for me. Would be memorable if we can progress in the cup. If not just rip up this year and start again next year. For me his job only really starts after the summer. The mess he is dealing with is CCs, not his.

Personally I'd much rather have a shot at beating Swansea because we know we can get something against Villa so sacrificing Millwall ( and lets face it we were leading ) to me was worth it. That's just my take on it. I don't think that e are going down and I can only see the results getting better as the players come back from injury increase.

Hang on, much rather have a shot against Swansea?

Then play Joao and Reach against Millwall, rest them for the Villa game, then be fresh for the Swansea game, whats gonna happen if he doesn't play either against

Swansea due to fatigue, or does play them but are too knackered to perform.

Should have been done the other way round if he is thinking of fitness levels.

i agree with you, but what i can't agree with is not starting with a forward, surely someone who plays up front for us at some level was capable of starting?, even if only as a trial.

when i saw the side i was 'very disappointed' i hate to think how i'd feel if i'd travelled all that way down.

Ok we play our strongest eleven last night

We then pick up a few niggles and consequently have to play last nights starting line up against Villa

We are down to the bones, like it or lump it

In your opinion which is/was the game to get points and rest players for Swansea, mine play a strong side against Millwall a weaker side against Villa, and a strong side against Swansea.

picking up niggles could in any match.

And it didn’t seem as if we played our best hand against Swansea in the first leg, if getting through was what we desired
