owlsdreamer
Cant understand either why he started with no recognised striker. How long are we going to keep picking Loovens.? Game was there to be possibly won but bad team selection and suicidle defending cost us badly.

Let Jos get on with his job. A job he's trying to do with a squad decimated of injuries. Surely if you are decimated with with injuries you don't leave out the bits that are not decimated. Have you seen the current match programme we're going through? Tuesday - Saturday - Tuesday - Saturday - Tuesday - Saturday... If you already have an injury hit squad; you've got to rest some of the key players at some point and that's probably why Jos gambled with his line-up yesterday. Up until half time it did the job on Millwall; then Loovens' mistakes and Thorniley making some rookie mistakes - which is to be expected at times from academy youngsters - cost us, and eventually some first team players had to sub on. If we just fielded the same team over and over and over across these 2.5 weeks, chances are you'd be without Reach, Joao, etc. once we're through this. Millwall was probably the "weakest" opposition and I'm sure Jos fields a stronger line-up from the start v. Villa at home; and also gives it a go vs Swansea in the cup replay. Jon Newsome
It'll always be the same on here, no middle ground. We win a game and Jos is incredible, lose one and everything is horrendous but the negativity spreads a lot faster than the positivity. Disgraceful. Joao was rested against Swansea, came on for last ten minutes. Should have played Reach is one of those players with a big engine (keeps going). Could have played. Would it not be better to play these two against Millwall, (a team who we could beat) then rest them against Villa, (a team who are better than Millwall) then have them (rested) for the Swansea game. daveyboy66
We've had Conte and Mourihnio this morning talking about the difficulty of making sure players are fresh with the schedule of matches with squads of 40 plus. We've got half a squad and playing youngsters and Jos is trying to balance it because we've got six games in two weeks and the kneejerks on here are up in arms

Owling Wolfe
Can you imagine the flouncing if he had played our only 2 fit strikers and they were both injured. FFS give the man a chance, he's trying to get to the end of the season without anymore injuries to an already depleted squad. And as for the "Why isn't he telling us about tiredness/injuries, don't forget he will also be telling opposition of players with niggles and knocks. If we had 5 strikers available last night I would be worried about the team put out but the fact is we haven't. Welcome to Owlstalk Manager Merry-Go-Round. Do you know for sure that they could have played though? Maybe Reach had got to his tipping point and needed a rest to make sure his standards don't drop? Maybe some of them have knocks and niggles that they just needed to manage last night? Starting is very different to being on the bench for if needed. I'm sure we'll see a stronger team having a go at Villa on Saturday. Maybe the breathing space from the win against Derby and the potential QF draw has given Jos the incentive to pick a stronger team at Swansea? Yes, he got it wrong last night and the performance was nowhere near good enough but Jos is working a minor miracle with what he has at his disposal. sheriwozgod
I get that he is trying to protect the fit players that we have and that next week we have 3 big games..........................but are we seriously saying that Nuhiu and Joao could not have managed 45 mins each last night ?
