@owlstalk
Am I right in thinking Wadsley Bridge train station used to be used by football fans to get to/from matches at Hillsborough? 2 Owlstalk Shop
mozzy85
hear trains ocassionally go past near my place. Think it's only used by the steel company nearby now.

Not far from mine that place, I used to live in the apartments bang next door to it. Always thought how good it would be if they reopened it, would help football fans out massively with commuting to the matches. There's still a freight train that passes through that goes to Stockbridge on that line, just thought I'd share that very uninteresting information with everyone. 2
Bouncing Owl
Yes - I do remember Millwall fans getting off there a long time ago. I think they had one of their own special trains. If we ever get ourselves sorted and get to the prem and we remain at Hillsborough, it would be sensible to get the station reopened as a means for transport to and from the game and relieve congestion around the ground. Road network around Hillsborough is poor.
ChinaOwl
Tragically yes. I say tragically because it was the destination for a football special from Liverpool on that fateful day back in 1989. RIP.

But was also used on hundreds of other occasions which passed without incident. 17
modboy
A train link to stocksbridge etc would be great and cut down traffic to and from town. Otherwise make it into a cycle path Edited February 9, 2018 by modboy

Probably! Prem seems a long long way away after a car crash of a season! I just want us to stay up and delete this season from the memory. It’s been a shocker! dani_armo
The fact that this station (and a station in Stocksbridge) would probably help traffic etc into and out of town means it's likely to never be used again Too much like common sense
Doghouse Daz
Ideal for those new Tram/Trains, just needs the station tidying up.
@owlstalk
Would be great for Stocksbridge/Oughtibridge wouldn't it? But where could it go/come from in town? Owlstalk Shop
Bassetts Allsorts
Positive it was used in recent times (2005'ish?) for someone like Millwall. Might have just had too many in the Railway and dreamt it
