devonshire owl
Are the players insured against injury?if we have a injury playing a sport we would claim of a insurance company.wondered if it was the same with professional football clubs. bluenwhite17
Why would the players insure themselves against injury, they still get paid when they are injured that's all they are bothered about.

Yes. The players are insured by the club as assets.

scram
They'll be insured against losing their careers to injury There's no need for them to be insured for injuries during their career as they will be paid as normal by their clubs therefore no financial loss

scram
Hutch would have had to repay his pay out - if he received one It's up to the club to what extent they insure their players against career loss - nto sure he would have been a high value player for insurance purposes
Stockyowl
In my day you would insure yourself with CICA (combined insurance company of America) you'd get extra money when injured. Always used to get signed off injured through the summer to pick up extra money. This was in the late 80's/early 90' when salary's were nowhere near todays

Not for injuries though but if the rumours about Lee turn out to be true then we’d be due a bit of money.

AwokenGiant
There used to be a company called Combined Insurance of America who used to insure players for injury or illness, even though they still got payed from the club. Long of the short of it, some players milked the hell out of it both during and after the season. Our current squad would certainly be cashing in some claims.
