Fletcher to sign for Sunderland

Recommended Posts

Middlesbrough striker Ashley Fletcher has arrived on Wearside for a medical ahead of a loan move to Sunderland until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old striker, who only signed for £7m in the summer, has struggled for game time since Tony Pulis took the job.

Think this ends any speculation about Big Dave or Rhodes signing for them

I sincerely hope that was the point. Hilarious to see all the negging going on. Kudos OP, for an entirely accurate title. Good stuff.

Wouldn’t have minded him here, would’ve added some pace

What we need from our strikers is goals. We obviously lack pace in all areas of the team but we don't need another striker who hasn't proven to be clinical yet at this level. He may well turn into a fine player but 1 goal every 5 games, most of which came in League One hardly shouts prolific. It was only 2 seasons ago that we got both Hooper and Forestieri for less than he cost Middlesbrough in the summer.

We have goals in the team, the problem was as clear as day at Boro. We just couldn’t get bodies in the box quick enough and there was only really Joao and Reach who made the kind of runs to stretch a team on the counter.

I think if we ended up playing 4 2 3 1 which Jos prefers, he is the kind of player along with Joao and Matias who could play in the three.
