didn't DA try to sell it for 12 mill in his reign

Don’t remember the figure but yeah we first tried to sell it to a supermarket then we tried to sell it to Bloor Homes. Both would have seen us split the cash with the council and both failed due to planning issues (in fact we didn’t even submit the housing one as it had no chance).

The council own the land, we have a long lease. The deal to sell the training ground would have given the council a big wedge for the land while we would have got £10m in compensation for surrendering the lease.

That's correct - there's about 50 odd years left on the lease and that's why Allen struggled with the negotiations, along with him misreading the council's appetite to change the use @ Middlewood to housing and getting Westfield as part of the deal.

The back-office of the SYP police and Fire Service are merging shortly with a lot of assets likely to be sold.

As we don't need to change the planning use at Niagara, it's likely we would be in a good position if Niagara became available.

There are two full size pitches which would make perfect sense to merge. Just the issue of getting consent for a footbridge across the Don which shouldn't be hard.

Can't get my bearings with that picture. Is the Jubilee next to it, or is it all classed as Niagara? Used to be a decent pitch that.

The back offices of SYP and SYFR sharing some facilities / premises will have absolutely no impact on whether SYP sell Niagra or not, it's still years away as a reality .
