New scout/coach?

Recommended Posts

Sneaky, didn't see that coming. Seems the new managers bringing about a Dutch revolution here.

For me it shows the power DC gives to his managers. No way would this have happened under Carlos, it's all Jos doing and thats because DC is giving him the freedom to recruit who he wants. Good signs.

DC is learning

JL: Chairman, you don't set a 33 female lawyer to 'work closely' with the academy. We need a real talent scout/trainer
DC: Really?
JL: Yes
DC: Can you find someone for me?
JL: Hans Schrijver would be good and he also looks like a psycho from a scandi-noire series.
DC: OK we'll have Schrijver
KM: Yes, but you said....
DC: Get back in the office before I set Schrijver on you

Genuinely excited about the direction we seem to be heading, even at this early stage in JL's tenure. Bringing in players in their early 20's who are established in their current teams, with 100+ games under their belt and development potential, for reasonable fees seems to be a sustainable recruitment model.

Let's be realistic, we cannot attract the top youth talent, i.e. 18-21 as Premier league clubs hoover them all up to see what sticks talent wise. Picking them off a few years later, once they have kick started their career and gained some first team experience is a wise strategy and much rather this than pay big money for established players dropping down from the Premier League.

For me we can sign as many Dutch/German players with the pedigree of Puss....ehm Joey as we like. Such a cheaper market than UK now and those nationalities usually fit in well. The pull of 'playing in England' seems so big nowadays you can get players from top divisions to drop down a division to us just in the hope of playing in the PL one day.

I'm loving what's happening at our club right now

We're putting together a proper football club structure

And to think some fans were only a short time ago questioning Chansiri and doubting him quoting dark days of Dave Allen and wondering if we were better off under manderic... madness.

An excellent move, it is what has been required for a while. It has been clear scouting and recruitment has been very poor and think this was due to having Manager/coach, scouting system and advisor all from same company, all too cosy. We need someone based in Europe to look at Dutch, Belgium, French and German markets lots of footballers and always bargains to be had. This chap appears to have links to youth football which will be good for Academy as may get some quality young players from europe. Think it shows DC does give his manager support and allows him to influnce the way things develop.

After Chris de Wagt the Sneker third division club ONS again loses a member of the technical staff. Hans Schrijver, talent coach and head of scouting, switches immediately to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 58-year-old Writer goes to work in the youth academy at the current number 17 of the Championship (second-highest level in England). The club recently appointed the Dutchman Jos Luhukay as head coach.

Prior to joining ONS Schrijver worked with the youth of SC Heerenveen, he was scout for Cambuur and head coach at vv Sneek (now SWZ).

Abroad he worked at the Canadian Edmonton and JEF United in Japan together with Dwight Lodeweges, the former trainer of Cambuur and Heerenveen and now assistant at PEC Zwolle.

Youth coach by the sound of it. What on earth is a Dutch slaughter marathon?

Was  a tad concerned after DC made his mardy announcement, then Carlos left, then we brought in a controversial CEO, and got stuffed at home by Burton. Wasn't sure that Chansiri had his heart in this anymore. But how he's gone about a complete restructure job is extremely encouraging. If at first you don't succeed, try try again.
