We need 6 or 7 consecutive wins to get back in the hunt and I reckon that run needs to start within the next 2 or 3 games. Carlos did it last year when we least expected it but I’m sure at least 4 of those games were against teams with nothing to play for as that run was so late In The season.

12 Point off the pace.

In 19 games we would need around 43 points if we are lucky with points required to get into 6th.

12 wins & 7 draws? 14 wins and a draw?

It's over for this season. We would have to match what Wolves have done so far (2.3 points per game) to stand any chance of scraping into 6th.

quoted this stat several times but it's pointless (npi)

this season at it's best will be to gel a team of fitter, better coached players for a pop next season

The strange way the Championship is,  we drop a place from 16th to 17th after drawing with Sheff Utd but actually pulled back a point on the top 6 from 13 to 12 and went a further point away from the relegation zone of 6 to 7.

If we can get down to single figures of the play off by the end of January lets see how it goes, We have top 6 Cardiff this week end, the blades play Norwich so hopefully a Norwich win and Barnsley play Villa, if they can stop them winning we could we only 10 points behind come Monday.

But equally things go the other way we could be 4 points off the relegation zone, it is always better to look up but we have to be conscious  of the teams below picking up points.

For the utterly deluded one's still out there, the task isn't to make up the 12 point gap. It's highly conceivable we will make up that 12 points and finish above Sheff Utd, the reality is there are 11 teams above us, so this is where we are today...... we're starting a 12 team league with a 19 game season, and we're at the bottom, 12 points away from top We need to win that league with 12 more points than Sheff U and Leeds, 11 more points than Fulham, 10 more points than Boro and Preston etc... all the way down to Millwall who we just need a better goal difference over those games. We also need the teams below us who aren't in this 12 team league not to do better than us, so Reading can't get 2 more points than us, Barnsley can't get 4 and so on.

Is it starting to sink in yet? :goalie:

Many people have said, the season doesn't end in December....correct, it doesn't start on January 20th either.

Don't mistake pessimism for realism, nor optimism for its absence.

If you think those who are excited by the promising signs that our new gaffer might just have a clue aren't aware of the scale of the task, I'm afraid you're the one being delusional.

By all means lower your expectations - as I think we all have after the godawful first half of the season - but don't think for a minute that being a miserable bugger will in any way impact the hopes and dreams of football supporters.

And besides. We're Sheffield Wednesday. We'll do what we want!

No chance we'll get promotion this season.

With the injuries we have, a run of form that is required to sneak into the playoff spots is simply delusional. Even if we had a fully fit complement of players available to us...the chance of promotion would be extremely slim.

This next month the focus has to be on getting enough points to ensure we have don't have any chance getting embroiled in a relegation battle, which will set back our plans for next season.

The sooner fans get the idea or fantasy of promotion this season, the better. We need to all get on board that the rest of the season is about planning for next season. They'll be some good and some poor performances, as Luhukay tries to find the best system, the best partnerships, the best players. All this, while we try and ease an abundance of key players back from some very lengthy injuries.

Seriously, people need to forget the idea of promotion. It's not happening.
