Absolutely 100% The Right Decision

I’ll speak honestly and openly too.

 

Carlos going is 100% the right outcome for Sheffield Wednesday at this moment in time. We’re on a downward spiral, and need to ensure we concentrate on not getting involved in a relegation battle. Over recent weeks, Carlos lost his sparkle, and his ability to surprise us in a positive way, simply disappeared. It was simply his time to go.

 

The club will, and always has, come first. Managers, players, and Chairmen will come and go, but barring any further mismanagement of our club over the coming decades, the club will go on.

 

I spent many months keeping quiet, knowing that fate would intervene at some point. It was not in my nature to suggest the manager should leave, but couldn’t help but get annoyed when Carlos failed to acknowledge any blame in the downturn of our fortunes, and then suggested our bad run was partly down to the fans. That was the defining moment when I knew his time was up, and that continuing to support him was the wrong thing to do.

 

Carlos doesn’t deserve abuse, he deserves to go with the thanks of the fans, and with a recognition that he did his best. Sadly however, ultimately, his best was not good enough. We went from being an exciting attacking unit into a plodding, negative, precictable, shambolic, spent, force. Everything about the club has been on the downward slide for some time and a tonic was needed. Hopefully a new manager, conversant and experienced with English Championship football, will be able to lift players’ spirits, and invigorate a vibrant, more attacking style of play, and ensure any thoughts of getting embroiled in a relegation battle, remain just thoughts.

 

Our Chairman obviously had a good relationship with our former Head Coach, and its his club, so he has the right to say his piece, as do we as fans. He is right to be emotional about his friend leaving, and if he feels he has been forced into this decision, so be it. In itself Mr Chairman, this ought to be a good lessons learned exercise. In football, it is fans who dictate the success or failure of a club, Chairmen can only support a clubs fortunes one way or another.

 

What we have at Sheffield Wednesday is Premier League support, and Premier League ambitions / expectations as fans. We’re setting the goals here, and yes, we agree we need to work together as a family to get to where we need to be, but when one of the elements of success is clearly missing, and our Chairman can’t see what needs to be done due to either his naivity, or his close emotional ties with the under-performing element, and that leads to indecisiveness in the Chairman’s decision-making, then we, as part of the Wednesday family, will look to help out as on this occasion.

 

We will work together to achieve success, we are as you say Mr Chairman, one big family, but you need guidance in terms if how football works in this country and if the professional help you are getting from within the game at this moment in time is not providing the right direction, we don’t mind nudging you towards making the right decisions at the right times. What we’re not is compliant types who will be told how it will be, and to get back into our boxes. We will work with you when we all agree on the direction of travel.

 

Thank you Mr Chairman for your continued support, and thank you Carlos for giving it your best shot. Good luck in your future career.

 

With hindsight Mr Chairman, you will eventually see that a change of Head Coach / Manager was the right way to go.

Wrong appointment.

 

100% right decision even if it is too late.

 

He leaves us worse than when he found us.

 

Fully expect us to charge up the division with the new man in charge.

 

Happy days.  Can't wait to see this squad under a more forward thinking Manager.

100% drivel....if Chansiri decides to not spend a penny more, run us into the ground and down the league ladder who stops him? The fans with 0% ownership? He can do as he chooses.

 

He doesn't serve the fans, he runs the club how he wants....better with fans onside but you and the rest of us fans are ultimately just spectators.

The first season was memorable.

 

The wrong players were brought in to push us on and this along with a more methodical style of play saw us have a good season but as the season wore on we were more reliant on certain players to get us over the line.

 

This season injuries have meant we’ve lacked a certain spark that I believe would’ve made a difference but Carlos’ inability to deviate from a rigid playing style has seen him pay the price IMO.

 

He has the two highest championship places on his cv since 2000, so he has been a decent appointment but moving forward we need someone who can indeed move us forward but It won’t be easy considering some of the options who are available. That said Mandaric managed this, can Chansiri follow suit?
