Boyd and the Wednesday mystery

Recommended Posts

What's the mystery?

The manager is a clown and the coaching is garbage.

The list of players who have come here with pedigree elsewhere and done absolutely nothing is frightening.

Boyd played 36 matches in the Premier League LAST SEASON, comes here and is a total non entity.

Although is bizarre how Abdi and Boyd have both come to us on the back of decent prem seasons and both are crocked straight away.

People were looking at Boyd, how he was playing and how he fits into the team before he was injured.

A bit like a metaphor for the last 18 months under Carlos actually. Lots of question marks and wondering what the crack is before the sh*t actually hits the fan.

You're aware he picked up an injury and required two surgeries right?

He's only been healthy for six games, and he played in four of them.

I think there were injuries.  I don't think for second they required this extended of a convalescence.  Not buying it.

Boyd was already starting to feel the CC yo-yo in terms of quick hooks and losing a starting slot, right before "injury".

He injured his shoulder which was unlucky. What was strange was signing one of the most energetic players from the premier last season who has a reputation for "having a good engine" and telling him to stop running!

I really thought Boyd was just what we needed, energy, the ability to go past someone and an eye for goal. Hopefully he'll be back soon and firing on all cylinders.

2 things;

- You missed my follow up post where I qualified this a bit. There were definitely rumblings of something not looking or feeling right about Boyd before he was injured. I distinctly recall it feeling a bit "Same song and dance" before he became perpetually injured. There are players here - GOOD players - who have looked utterly lost before falling down an injury black hole and this just feels the same again.

- My post said the coaching is garbage and I stand by that. I absolutely include stuff like fitness and conditioning in that. I don't think we are fit enough, I don't think we prepare properly and I don't think this repeated problem of losing players to long term injury, that sometimes roll on and on without update, is a coincidence.

Is  Carlos to blame though really ?

Yes without a doubt!! A manager is/should be in charge of training, coaching and the general management of his squad on a day to day basis. All this is In preparation for match days.

injuries are part and parcel of any football club but there is a process of rehabilitating and mainainting players progression to enable them to get up to speed. It’s become apparent that Carlos is happy to take chances on players who aren’t 100% fit.

Carlos removed a very good tried and tested backroom staff (by clutching at straws) and replaced them with his own men. That was his decision I’m afraid.
