dunsbyowl
Born On This Day in 1929 Legend Derek Dooley - an unbelievable 63 goals in 63 games for #SWFC 1950-53. A giant amongst men. #WAWAW. Is there anyone on here that saw him play? My Dad would telll me of time when the opposing keeper. centre half, ball & Dooley would all end up in the back of the net :-)

Mrmason69
Dad saw dd from kop. His memories are very old but he still talks with such emotions about dd. What a terrible turn of fate was bestowed on him Just like when banks lost an eye
fredmciverslovechild
I can remember, back in the late 60's, going with my dad to pick up our season tickets (6 guineas, by the way!). As we walked at the back of the South my dad nudged me to look at a guy sitting down at a desk in the Development Fund office. It was a guy smoking a pipe with vivid ginger hair. Now my dad rarely showed any sort of emotion but I can still remember the way he held my arm and said "that's him, that's Dooley". It was as though, literally, he was in front of a God. In all honesty, he should have been left there. I know he'd done some coaching with the kids but to appoint him manager was always doomed to failure. Having said that the way he was sacked was simply appalling.
