The Cult of Megson

Recommended Posts

We need him to come in and work the same magic this season, as he did the last time he took over our stuttering team, otherwise known as "HMS wee wee The League".

D L L L D...

That kind of impact will see us turn it around.

Maybe with a few players on loan (like he got that year) we could emulate his spectacular "won't stand for any nonsense" run of results.

2010/11 under "Meggo"

W 6 - D 5 - L 10

What an impact, just the man we need til the end of the Season...

With a bit of luck, we'll get to see David Jones on the right wing JoC style. *Fingers crossed*.

We might need him to keep us up again the way we are going @Donny.Owl.

Megson did well that season after how bad we had become under Irvine and with no transfer window to play with.

Oh yeah now I remember.

He took over, with the team in 12th, in February and somehow managed to save us from the drop, by playing even worse football and dropping 3 places by the end!

What a miracle it was.

Deserves the key to the City.

Come home Meggo

You’re right He does work miracles. Turned us into promotion material in his first full season. It took Big Jack three seasons to do that!

I am hoping DC does not read this tripe, otherwise he may drcide to keep current geezer. His personality has cost him otherwise would have had far better career as coach.

Wish folks would stop living in past, him and Pulis made a right Horlicks of WBA job.

Yes he did didn't he, nothing to do with it being the first full season with no debt (after the turmoil of nearly going of of business), nothing to do with us getting rid of the deadwood from the squad and being able to add to what bit of quality we had (all relative) with decent L1 players, I bet Meggo paid for them all, nothing to do with Milan's investment or having a top 3 L1 budget.

Also nothing to do with Dave Jones taking over a side that had won 1 in 5 (L L L L W) and playing the type of football Meggo claimed they weren't capable of playing, and going unbeaten for the rest of that season.

It was all down to Meggo's genius, everything else was irrelevant.

Milan started to sort out the off field stuff (as he himself admitted the club was in an even worse state than he realised) and Megson the on field.

As you say getting rid of the deadwood and then, as top managers do, bring in the right players for the job; the likes of Bywater, Rob Jones, Lliera, Baath, Marshall, Semedo, Lines, Antonio, COG and get the best out of existing players like Madine (who was injured for a decent chunk of that season let’s not forget).

The last result in that sequence you mention was very important. We beat the pigs and it turned out to be an important  catalyst for their downturn and our upturn in form and results.

Yes, you can point out stats to suit any argument.

How about this one, our last 6 games under CC, DDDDLL.

Bring the Ginger Messiah home.
