Venancio

Recommended Posts

Typical of transfer policy we look at 100s of centre backs. Select one who is not very good from Holland (had poor second season and value was plummeting) and another from Portugal where standard of football far inferior to UK and played at completely different tempo so very hard to adjust to English game.Neither up to Championship standard.

Can't see why anyone should be surprised by the treatment Venancio has received. In all my years watching Wednesday, I've never known them bring a player in ,either on loan or even bought, and immediately play him.  Even someone who's not 'up to speed ' or 'match-fit' whatever the phrase may be  the vogue, never gets played immediately.Despite the fact that he could be started and substituted if its not working, it's not the Wednesday way.  i'm certain that if we got either Ronaldo or Messi or the like, they would never be ready for the first team immediately, so what chance does Venancio stand.

How pointless is this signing? comes in on loan with a view to a permanent deal and he hasn't even played one minute for the 1st team yet despite us being garbage defensively.

Why don't we just save funds and promote someone from the youth set up?

Its just bizarre.

Because Doyen wouldn't make money that way?

Its too early to write off Van Aken, he's a good footballing CB, he just needs work on the defensive side of his game.

F'k knows whats going on with Venancio, I can only assume he's garbage.

Now other than that, Palmer, Fox and Loovens wouldn't get in any other top half Championship back 4. It is no surprise that we are struggling.

Like others have said Van Aken looks like a shocker of a central defender at the moment, but he does have something about him with his passing and physical presence. I think a good manager would recognise this and make the most of this. I personally would like to see him used protecting the back four rather than Jones.

I can understand why we have taken a look at Vanencio, although the link with Doyen is a concern. Young, club captain, would think he is not on great money, you might just uncover a nugget that you can polish.

The signings that annoy me are the big wage signings with no resale value, Jones, Fletcher, Abdi, Boyd. All players past there best who are only going to get worse and difficult/impossible to offload.

On this seasons showing I would have put Sasso in front of all our centre halfs. At least with Sasso you had a player that would come out of  defence with the ball and offer a goal threat from set pieces. He is a far better player than calamity Loovens.

Sasso was the unsung hero last season.

Very disappointed in SWFC for  not recognizing his value.  The club let him walk for a pittance.

With games coming in thick and fast combined with Lees out injured, we may see Venancio introduced at some point during this month.

We are short of leaders on the pitch, so Fred could give us that something extra.

Do I think he can make the step up? Absolutely.

Yep - anyone who says we should be in the top two with the team we have should look at that.
