fredmciverslovechild
Walker's next job after resigning from Wednesday in November 1937 was, to put it mildly, bizarre. He was approached to manage Chelmsford City who didn't have a team or a league to play in; they'd been formed from the dregs of the town's defunct amateur club to start in the Southern League in 1938/39. They had high hopes to get into the league and so wanted a high profile manager but it didn't work out....and one of his first signings was Jack Palethorpe who'd scored the opening goal in the 1935 Cup Final. He also played quite a number of games in goal for Forest during the War, years after he'd given up playing officially.
