Reading 0 : 0 Sheffield Wednesday : OMDT

Recommended Posts

Yes, yes, it's late I know.

But why not?

In honour of the bigmans equaliser against Ipswich in a game which most people probably thought was lost.

Barnsley Mick was gutted... I nearly split my chin open jumping up and down.

I'm one of the first to say we never have a 'homer' in terms of referee, but we certainly had an awayer there. I have no idea how Loovens hasn't been pulled up for that kick in the goolies on McGoldrick.

Doesn't matter how many times you see it. ..

Ouch!

Lucky the skipper. But about time we had some luck isn't it.

You can't stop watching it can you? tis awful. Apparently the lad more or less had to have them sewn back on!

Anyway...

".....stubborn. Reverting to non-direct, possession-heavy tactics when it's not really needed....."

No , not another Carlos thread. Rather that is a quote from a Reading commentator talking about their own Jaap Stam!

Familiar? It seems there is a theme.  Then again. As Peter Eustace once said "I'm the gaffer , I pick the team" so lets just back them.

Actually. Bad example...

According to said Reading commentator they " hate it when a team disrupts their passing rhythm, particularly high up. Press, and press high, and we're in trouble"

Ok. So that might not be a tactic Wednesday adopt. Especially after comments in the week about our front players having to "run less without the ball."

Anything else?

"Going forwards, attack us with pace and get men into the box - we can often struggle to deal with knock-downs and loose balls, so make sure you’ve got someone on hand to take advantage.”

Well we haven't got any pace. Hmm. I wonder if we just move it quicker if that will be as effective?

I know it might upset the purists. But sometimes it's horses for courses.

Back to front a bit quicker. Make up for the fact we haven't got Bolt playing up top for us. Hmm. Perhaps. Move the ball out from the back four quicker than 4mph. That could do it.

Carlos takes a bit of hammer for his 4-4-2. Down in Berskshire the Dutchman is taking some hammer for not going 4-4-2!!  As was the other play off manager from last year, the Fulham fellow. A terrible bashing he got for playing 1 up front when we did them. Of course all three are probably just sticking to what they did last year and hoping to get a leg over this time.

Reading got a cracking result against L**ds playing a 4-4-2 but then he changed back again.

What is it with these managers and their reluctance to use plan B instead of plan A?

Who knows. One thing I do know. Is that if plan B works better than Plan A then it should become Plan A itself. Whether the old plan A then becomes plan B depends largely on if it's effective as a change as it is ineffective as a start.  Also depends on the personnel. You can't let who you buy dictate what you do. You have to do what you do best and they have to fit in to that.

And if some of the old lads fit in better then they should play. If the new lads fit, then they should play.

Some people won't like it and will sit shaking their heads.

But for me. He's in the squad and he should get more than 5 sodding minutes. Get him in and maybe Hooper will stop looking like he's had a row with his wife. Because that's how he's looked a bit of late. Super turn for the goal. He wants some support up there.

Anyway. Must dash.

As you might have twigged.

Had a bit of a drinky poo

Litle bit. Little , well maybe a bit more.

Very. Very drunk. .

I think we'll make it a nice hat trick of draws this week. We're becoming the draw specialists this season and they really don't help a side looking for promotion.

Reading are having a disappointing season and looked very shaky when I watched them on TV against Wolves last weekend. I think we'll go ahead and have chances to kill the game off before sadly sitting back and allowing them back into the game.

Off topic guys I know but the matrix signs on the M1 south are flashing M1 closed jct 20 to jct 19 southbound, check before setting off would be my recommendation

Quick update, sounds like an overnight closure for roadworks but still worth checking before setting off
