Popular Post Lord Snooty
. "The good thing about League football is that you only have to wait a couple of days to try and put things right. That's what I dislike most about International football. The wait between games" Graham Taylor And we're lucky on that score because we have a game tonight. Bristol might have been a great clean sheet, and a good point against a team that have had a cracking start to the season. But it's the no shots on target thing isn't it? I mean really, all things considered.... It is a good point...but...but..no shots on target...let just hope that point comes in handy at the end of the season.....anyway. On to the next game.. Ipswich Town - V- The Wednesday We're going to ignore the fact that Wednesday have lost 9 of their last 12 Wednesday night away games and focus on the positive. Away from home there is less pressure to break teams down. The onus is on the home side to come and have a go at us. Ipswich under the guidance of Mick McCarthy ......will have a go too. They're a team who play like the manager talks. Quite bluntly! They might be considered old fashioned. A far cry from the days of Alf Ramsey instilling push and run football. And Bobby Robson's Euro side. Mick likes his sides to get the ball forward quickly. Some might call it dinosaur football. But within that he likes to make sure they don't leave the back door open. They play five across the middle... It's not a defensive 5 , (though as a McCarthy side, I'm sure you won't need telling that they will all be putting a shift in to get back and get a foot in). Their midfield like to get forward and support Joe Garner up front. The former Preston man has been a shrewd signing for Big Mick With 4 in 14 he's not prolific but his ability to work the front line alone and bring others into play has been a real bonus to the Suffolk club - as shown in the goal scoring stats where the attacking midfield triumvirate of Celina , Waghorn and McGoldrick get forward to support him knowing that there is a defensive fulcrum of Skuse and Connolly behind them... They're a team where it's the runners that cause the problems coming from deeper positions. Proving, were it needed, that one up front needn't be seen as a negative tactics How will Wednesday line up to combat this? Well there is the possibility that Fletcher might come back in. Carlos has favoured the bigman on the road since he signed and its an understandable tactic given his usefulness in holding the ball up and giving us something to hit to have a breather. As he did so well at Newcastle last season and Fulham this. What might that do to Rhodes though, who has scored two in his last 3 outings? Wallace has apparently had flu which might be some indicator as to why he was taken off against Bristol despite looking one of our more likely players to do something. Will he be ready for s start again? Who knows. Even more up in the air is who would come in if he isn't declared fit to start. Matias seems unfancied and Boyd is still injured. Perhaps with it being away from home Palmer might be considered after doing well in his Villa cameo. . .There's not much to pick between Wednesday and Ipswich in the form table at the moment. Us picking up and extra draw where they fell to defeat losing at Cardiff before the International break . I think you could really throw a coin to decide this one. Ipswich don't concede too many at home. Wednesday don't score many away. A point would probably be a decent one. But the way things are going at the moment Wednesday and Carlos could really do with another three. Whether we agree or disagree, whichever side of the argument we fall, we have to all admit that pressure is going to start mounting. Much has been made this week about the atmosphere at Hillsborough.I keep hearing it described as Toxic. Something I wouldn't agree with at all. I've seen it toxic at Hillsborough. Felt it. What we have at the moment is little more than a knowing and quiet apathy with a murmur of discontent after the final whistle.. So perhaps another away trip is just what the lads need, if the players and managers comments are to be taken at value, because Wednesday fans on the road to make a tremendous racket and give the lads superb backing. - There are still some tickets left and Wednesday fans can pay on the day at £15 if you still fancy going down there and causing some noise yourself. But...it's a Wednesday night and it's on telly so... . Anyway... 4 2
HOOTIE AND THE SHIT TU
I think Loovens is a must for this game We have to guard against giving away silly free kicks and corners I think Carlos will bring Fletcher back for this game at the expense of Rhodes I can see this being 1-1 Our goal coming from either Hooper, or Rhodes off the bench Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife. Orlando_Trustful
A night game at Dingle Mick's gaff isn't what I like. We won there last season when our form was great and they had nothing to play for. I can't see a repeat tonight. We will go into the game in a defensive and negative manner hoping to hold out for as long as we can. Unfortunately, I see Mick's team of sloggers breaking us down after a while. We will pose a typical Wednesday esque late rally and finally decide to attack in the last ten minutes when it is too late, rather than attacking early on to try and win the game. Carlos will come out and say we were unlucky but are in good shape. Ipswich 2 v 1 Wednesday Them (59) Them (71) Us (83)

Holmowl
One of the best OMDT's that Snoots. Really informative. Looking forward to watching this thanks to those nice Sky people. I worry about us tonight if Wallace is out. We have no natural wide option, and our record playing only one winger is rotten. Ever optimistic, our back-line is solid. 0-2, through a flash of Hooper's genius and a Fox towering header.

Geedee
Great op we'll done sir. Happy for a draw tonight but preferably a score draw and a bit of excitement. Homemade Beer bottled and plenty of wood cut for the fire should make for a great night in.
