All about the refs again..

Recommended Posts

CC has his out after the bannan decision so he can dodge questrone about playing 85 mins without any tempo, forward passing or desire to attack against a run of the mill side like Bristol City.

The style of play is appalling and a couple of wins doesn't even paper over the cracks. Could deal with playing like that (and we did) when we had a squad of frees like under Dave Jones and Stuart Gray. But when we have an expensively assembled squad it really is a criminal waste of potential.

Bristol are 4th in the table so hardly run of the mill

But they were bang average weren't they? Remember first half? 3 of them lining up unmarked. Straight at Westwood. But yeah darra they are class

not saying they're class. As ive said I think they got their tactics bang on today. But saying a side 4th in the division are run of the mill is a big statement

OK,  say we credit them with being an above average side, you still can't explain or excuse the way we played. Woeful.

I cant no. But as I've said they identified the players who recently have been playing well in Reach and Butterfield and played tactics that stifled them and it worked.

It's a sad day when you reach such a comatose level of performance that a refereeing decision for you is your only chance of winning a football match.

Its not a coincidence that a decision in one single moment in a game is regularly such a big issue.

Perhaps Carlos, if you acquired the right players, set this team up and deployed these expensive footballers properly you would not be talking almost every week about one incident that you think prevents this team winning.

Instead of questioning referees, why not question why our best playmaker who is 5ft 4 is trying to run the game From centre back?

Its not the personnel,  it's the way they are being asked to play the game...

Bristol are organised and resilient, doing unexpectedly well this season (in part by virtue of frustrating the heck out of home teams like they today). But they could still be playing that match now and they wouldn't have scored yet. Unfortunately you'd probably say the same of us.

Spot on,that said.....you alter things to combat that,Hunt & Bannan still found space to work in,although Bannan had to drop a little deeper

Top post, I said a few weeks ago are we really going to blame refereeing decisions on not making the playoffs this season? As that seems Carlos’ main problem so far.  Avoiding the fact that we aren’t doing enough to win games by our own merits

It wasn't all about the refs though was it? It was if you take one answer from a 10 minute interview.

Throughout the interview Carlos mentioned key players not being up to standard, us not moving the ball quickly and accurately enough going forward and playing the game to Bristol City's tune; all of these are massively concerning.

Despite our poor form (how are we 9th?!) it is astonishing that we have not had a penalty in 17 matches. Lee at Bolton, Fletcher at Derby, Rhodes and Bannan today, quite incredible really.

Pen appeals from today:

It's equally a sad day when 2 pieces of foul play and inept refereeing deny you your only 2 chances of winning a football match.

Shouldn't just be having 2 chances to win though should we.  Chronic underperfromance.
