January Transfer Window

Recommended Posts

No more boring international breaks and just football, football, football. It's only 6 weeks until the transfer window opens and we spend a month looking online and watching sky sports for any updates.

As it stands where would you like to strengthen and who would you be trying to sell to other clubs?

I would try move a few on and look for a young right winger who we can develop.

what do you think?

See if we can get Joao and Matais out on loan somewhere back in Portugal like we did with melo (hopefully with the club picking up there wage bill) and add abdi and maybe pudil to the shipped out list as they are old and turning into proper crocks and probably on good wages which may be our acchilles heal, trying to get rid of comfortable old crocks on high wages. So as above probably very little business done in January.

I’d look to get strikers out - Fletcher & Nuhiu if possible. Leaving us with Forestieri Joao Hooper Rhodes and if we can sort this situation Hirst !

Maybe move on a left back and give Penney a go in the first team squad.

No signings I don’t think.

Fletcher ???

Winger in on loan and that’ll be us done IMO. Then again no guarantee the winger will get selected :carlos:

If FF and /or Boyd are nearing fitness we have no need for another McManaman or McGeady.

But right now an injury to Reach or Wallace and we are a one-wing side. Absolutely no sign that Carlos sees Matias as a first-teamer.

If possible, move 3 or 4 on, bring 1 or 2 in.

We lack an 'impact' from the bench. Pace is the obvious gap, and we need to use the loan market properly. In years gone by, we were great at the loan market. Carson, Jones, Marshall, Antonio etc. In recent times we've struggled.

Be interesting to see how far Connor Wickham is away from fitness. Is Ben Woodburn in Liverpools Champions League squad? The fact they all look like qualifying for the later stages of the Champ Lge will make the Jan loan market very competitive this year.

Players in Ben Marshall reportedly available on loan due to Wolves having so much money, Chris Gunter from Reading to sort the right back issue out he is defensively sound and good going forward and then get in an attack minder central midfielder on loan Man Utd have loads or any of the man City kids siuch as Foden/Diaz/Xinchenko (though unlikely).

We then need to thin the players who don't play and take up wages

Pudil and/or Fox, Venacio, Loovens (if replaced), Matias, Jones, Boyd (it has not worked out), Nuihu, Kean, Abdi

We cannot bring Winnall back so offer Derby a full transfer for say £2-3m and a big sell on clause gets money in and another salary of the wage bill for good.

Then send out on loan Wildsmith for regular first team football, bring Stobbs and Clare back sign long term deals then send then out to league 1 for the rest of the season.

Deal with Hirst one way or the other sell him with sell on clause or loan him out and let a tribunal sort it in the summer a player out scoring goals will be worth more than one sat at home watching the telly to a tribunal.
