Was this in the days before Pele was hijacked as an ambassador for Sheffield United and Mcabes propaganda machine? lol

I went to Woodhouse Grammar School and we played the University away next day. I found myself copying the tricks and walking football, the like of which we'd never seen before. One of their guys said, did you go to to the match last night by any chance?

That's the Feb1972 game. The stripes returned in August 1972.  3-0 v Fulham in front of 25,000.  I won't forget it.  Meant as much to me as our Cup Finals.

It will be another great day when we return to our proper colours.

This picture is the 1972 match.   The first one we were still in stripes.  The 1972 match was a midweek afternoon but still a good crowd.  Wasn't it because of a strike?

Yes!!

Like a tramp on a sausage roll, as I recall, to get that shirt.

Bright light in a bleak time, that match. At least we threaten promo occasionally, these days:rolleyes:

I was there.

pele had never played against anybody like Kay.

they had to “give” him a penalty ..otherwise he’d never have scored

It’s the equivalent of Man Utd or Liverpool playing in stripes, I reckon that it was Vic Buckingham attempting to make us look like a continental side.
