Wildsmith

Recommended Posts

McRightside, Not sure he could have done a lot to prevent the goals, the first goal the experienced Jones got turned inside out slipped on his backside allowing the Bolton player time to pick his spot.

The second goal was a own goal by Hutch, how do you legislate for that ?

He made a mistake with the poor pass that lead to the corner. But hutch passes back to him from within the penalty area giving him little time to asses his options. Hutch not totally blameless.

He is horrible. Both goals down to him on replay. He dosent move for the first until it's passed him And he sees it all the way and the clearence wtf? And what on earth was Hutchinson doing. Clearing right at his own goal.

Wildsmith seems to have a calamity every outing.

And we wonder why we don’t play youngsters so they can learn on the job.

He's definitely got potential .. you know there is a good keeper in there but he needs 1 or 2 seasons of uninterrupted football for a league two or one club.

He has most certainly got a clanger in him every other game ..he seems to be a bit too blaise when it comes to getting rid of the ball or doing the right thing, like vs boro and bolton

but he'll learn and i've no doubt he'll be a top keeper in a few years to come (IF he gets the experience)

Said it before, he’s a good prospect with talent. But there is no way in a million years he is ready for the standard and pressure of the Championship. Another almighty clanger dropped in not getting an experienced number 2 in.

Could'nt agree more. There is a serious risk that his potential could be ruined by playing him too early. Get him out on loan to continue his education. He has more time on his hands being a keeper, no rush.

Not sure why the OP got 14 negs. What he says is spot on. I get lambasted for daring to question Rhodes ability. I believe it can only be those who don't go to games that can question the OP here.

Wildsmith is calm beyond his years but he has absolutely no agility. He will save shots at him and close to him but unlike Westwood he will rarely produce saves we don't expect as he's too wooden. That's a fact. Neg away. Thankfully some posters post what they see. It's a forum we are not at a game. If you can openly criticise the players anywhere it's on a forum.

I haven’t re-read the thread but I haven’t changed my opinion at all.

He needs to be playing regular football in order to prove he can consistently keep the errors out of his game. It should have happened ages before

Hes had a great month and I hope he keeps it up.

Simple as that really

He's played 15 games this season, last 4 have been clean sheets.

I think we're extremely fortunate to have three goalies of the calibre that we have.

Personally like many others I think Westy has proved himself the best in this league and Wildsmith has started so well he has every chance of being the same. Dawson also did really well when brought in.

A large number of posts suggest Westwood won't get back in my view is he should after all he's been hugely responsible for our overall success in the two play off seasons and he'd be in the Ireland team if O'Niell didn't do grudges.

Fact is is over many years we've always had good keepers.
