Came across Christian, played 3 games for us in 1998 and was Austrian. Didn't Big Ron sign him and after 3 games and no goals wasn't deemed good enough? Looks like he went on to have a decent career netting 224 times in 584 games while represented Austria 30 times. Can anyone remember him? Did we miss out on another gem by not giving him time to settle? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christian_Mayrleb Looks like a cyclist

Etchesketch
That's how they were then just like these days they are very tight. Will go back to being baggy one day. Same happens with length of shorts. In 80's they were short and tighter. Now they are lot longer.
legendaryswan
Really odd but this guys name cropped up in a conversation a few weeks back. I can vaguely remember him,was mostly sub unused, think he played his 3 games all in early 98,looked way off the pace, then vanished back to austria and was the leagues top scorer in
Guest
I was actually genuinely excited for him when we signed him, then he left again. That’s about it really.
Big Ron's Sovereign
He's long since regretted how his time at Hillsborough was so short so he bought a time machine and now parades in the guise of Almen Abdi
Bearwood Owl1
Mayrleb was great on one of the PlayStation games at the time. Actua Soccer 98 maybe.
poite
A good player who came to us and all of a sudden wasn't good enough. Left us and had a great career elsewhere. Thank god that doesn't happen with us these days...

Sedloski made his debut in 1:0 win against Southampton. He returned to Croatia to captain Dinamo Zagreb, scoring over 20 goals one season. I believe that Mayrleb was top scorer in Austria before he joined us, and after he left us. Anyone remember Spaniard who we had on trial (or even signed) after he was top scorer in 2'nd tier of spanish football ?! Around same time when we signed Mayrleb. Bluesteel
I remember seeing his name on the programme along with Sedloski and never saw either of them play! Sedloski was always listed as injured with a broken nose.

gypsyowl
he was on trial, signed on a short term deal, was on bench a few times, don't really have any memories of him our foreign signings back then were very hit & miss, tbf mostly miss! only really alexandersson that sticks out as a decent purchase, sibon to some extent kept us a couple of seasons when we went down but was a lazy sod sorry getting off topic, nice flash from the past OP

He wasn't the worst. Juan Cobian-Argentinian back up full back, Francesco Sanetti-young Italian. The best value that you didn't mention was Emerson Thome, free transfer and sold for for 2.7 million!
