nevthelodgemoorowl
Wednesdays current Ground at Davy Sports club Stands less than half a mile away from the original. The original occupied the stretch of land from the lower part of High Hazels Park, Greenland Rd to Darnall Cemetery at Coventry Rd. A Manor House stood at the top of a gentle slope at the south end of the ground but Marquees served the teams and public at Representative matches. At the time the ground was held in high regard for a period being 2nd choice behind Lords and often played host to All England and MCC Fixtures. It was here that former Wednesday player Tom Marsden became only the second player in world Cricket history to make a double century. He did so representing Sheffield against the combined forces of Liecestershire and Nottinghamshire in front of a crowd of 35,000.
