Mr Farrell
Awesome keeper massively underated. There was a period where he was almost unbeatable. My favourite memories of him were his speed off the line and bravery at the feet of an opposition striker.
helmut_rooster
Wasn't it 86 when ogrizovic scored past him from 80 yards?
Holmowl
I used to see Hodge and 3 or 4 others in the bookies. I was skint and used to bet 10p and 20p, spending ages pouring over form (fancy me looking at stats eh?). The door would open, Hodge would rush in during a break in training, look up at which dog race was next, choose a dog quickly, pull out £20, bet, lose, and leave. I remember once seeing him win, and the £100 or so handed over seemed like millions to me in those days. Terrific goalie. Massively under-rated, and in most eras would have had several England caps. shandypants
He lives near me. I have talked to him and we share the occasional nod at each other. I hero worshipped home as a player. They say never meet your heroes don't they.

The divot was deffo Bob Bolder, he played every game in 82-83 season. I was on the kop that day & still can't work out how he missed the ball. jamsandwich
i remember the WorldCup86 talk clearly - its probably some of my earliest football memories. Didnt Garry Bailey from ManU go in the end? My first replica kit was Hodgeys goalie shirt (with padded elbows) from

roaminowl
If my fading memory is correct, we bought Hodge as a back-up to the newly signed, and highly thought of, Iain Hesford from Blackpool. I don't think Hesford played a game (or not many) for us because Hodge was so good. Brilliant keeper.
BigTavowl
Definitely one of my heroes, I remember him blowing out his cheeks whilst taking goal kicks. Top keeper

Always remember him doing that thing where goalkeepers mark out the width of the goal by scuffing up the 6 yard line accordingly. Think it has been outlawed now.
