Spookone
Our squad with Wilder in charge Blunts squad with Wilder in charge Who would win? Obviously I am not suggesting in any way what so ever that anyone would ever want this to happen, but its a valid question - was it the manager who made the main difference today or the players and if it was the players, was it down to the manager? Stoop
We have a load of talented individuals, but they seem to have been signed without a thought as to where they fit into our system Boyd, Abdi, FF, Matias and Rhodes are all luxuries that CC hasn't got a clue what to do with United like most clubs sign players to do a certain job

After the game, pretty much the opposite was true and you couldn't really see any Wednesday players replacing any of their starting XI, despite the wealth of talent in our squad. United didn't have much to do in the game but they did it well. Wednesday, on the other hand, had loads to do but the execution was very poor. Preparing the team is down to the Head Coach and the coaching staff. It was clear today which side was prepared the better.

CC wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes at most clubs - the chairman just wouldn't have stood for it He has been so lucky here with DC - more a reflection of DC's inexperience I think. Today showed how limited CC is on just about every level. We have had the best chairman in a lifetime and a massive chance for the club to progress but we have a manager who isn't up to it. Classic Wednesday - unable to ram home any sort of advantage. Edited September 24, 2017 by Earlsfieldowl

Wilder did his homework and exploited our faults, but without pace or a player who can run at a defence we couldn't exploit their static (but organised) backline, so they could just keep hitting the channels. We've been saying it as far back as last season we lack both pace and strength. We have been in need of an Antonio or JJ type player for far too long. ChinaOwl
Wilder would create an entirely different ethos within the club then sign players to suit that ethos. I think he could easily get a club promoted from the Championship given anything like the funding that Carlos has had.

steelcityowlsfan
Shoddy recruitment and poor tactics are making this team struggle. A better manager would utilise the squad more and make necessary corrections in the January window.
Guest mkowl
Point is Wilder is now viewed as CC was in the first season. An unknown quantity to most other managers, a freedom to play and a desire from players to show they are worthy of this level Bit like Barnsley last year the interesting thing is how they will cope when they are tactically sussed and if other clubs come sniffing around their better players. They might be able to resist those offers a bit more than Barnsley.
