Even experienced players were positioning themselves the wrong side of him. The same defence made Clarke look like Lukaku. Ok! But experienced players surely shouldn't be falling this. He isn't Messi (yet). If a defender is constantly getting skinned you either double up on him or sub him!

How on earth is that "trying to keep him"?

If a defender is constantly getting skinned you either double up on him or sub him! No they shouldn't and my criticism is of those players. Whilst Brooks clearly had a very good game he still looked a bit unsure on some occasions and no one made him remotely uncomfortable in what should be a very hostile game for a player in his situation. Whilst we possibly made the change for various reasons, Jones came off at HT and he was exactly one of the players who kept running into the back of him. Lees was left exposed in the first couple of minutes after a nervy opening minute or two where we didn't win a header or second ball. He got skinned and panicked, gave a free kick away that he didn't have to (IMO). it speaks volumes that brooks wasn't phased and more experienced players were. But that is sometimes the case when good young players break onto the scene. He even won some duels against centre halves in the air/on his chest which for his frame he shouldnt have been allowed to. victorturner
Makes you think we should be blooding Hirst. Brooks was outstanding. Our strikers may be worldly but they also look world weary sometimes.
NorfolkNChance
Played well but have to question why a player is allowed to run 35 yards unchallenged and when a challenge does come in it’s on the edge of our box. We stand off far to much in general

We stand off far to much in general Because in that midfield there is only Lee who is capable of tracking player running through the middle. If we are pressing opposition high up the pitch, Jones just isn't mobile enough to cover all the space oppening up, while due to his role Bannan gets cought up the pitch, and central defenders play too deep. owlZfan84
We made him look like fuuuucking Messi. And Clarke, Ronaldo.

Agreed, should have been addressed but hasn’t been, instead we have an identikit midfield that’s weak and one paced
S36 OWL
Shows what can be done of you have wingers/strikers with pace that can run at defences.

He is two years older though. He's 20. The Toulon team was a mixture of U18, U19 and U20s. He has now declared himself to Wales and has been called up by their U21s. He was at Man City age 16/17 but was tiny and they released him. Looks like he was a late developer physically but still slight. Cant compare him to Hirst as a player because Brooks is normally midfield or out wide even though up front today. Guest
Utterly outstanding ?? He’s a good player but he’s probably had harder opposition at academy level than he got today from Jones and Bannan Will get marked out of the game by better sides at this level
