owlinexile
Seriously. The amount of corners that fail to beat the first man or drift harmlessly to the far touchline. Aimlessly hammering the ball into the wall every. Single. Time. when we get a free kick. Do we even work on them in training? Every time we get a free kick or a corner you just know nothing's going to come of it.
Miffed
Set pieces are so important in this league. Promoted teams thrive on them and even play for them. We look abysmally poor at either taking them or defending them. Case in point today, Cardiff last week...... Ive been harping on about it for a while, but we are shocking from corners, I think weve scored from one corner all season? Free kicks on the edge of our box, either someone hits the wall or Bannan puts it over the bar. We just arent a threat and that for me comes back to the management team. Guest Copthorneowl
No absolutely none. I've also been banging on for weeks ...typical scenario Bannon plus either Ross or anybody nearest debate who's going to place the ball into row Z. As for corners we are beyond poor the majority go over everybody's head or don't get past the first defender.
owlinexile
It's like there is a complete lack of any prior planning. Another example - the playoff against Huddersfield. They all stood around bickering about who's going to take a penalty because our record signing has decided he's too frit. Whilst Hudds just get on with it like they've perhaps at some point maybe covered this scenario in training.
Mr. Tom
Bring back the early 90s routine of someone running up and over the ball, carrying on down the channel into space for a slotted pass and an easy cross. Worked wonders even though we did it twice a game.
Mole
Shame Butterfield only got to take two corners. One more and he could have joined the Darren Potter hall of fame.
Danish
It's shocking. We always look like we panic when getting a set piece. For every decent cross we see a dozen dreadful attempts.

agentwalker
we do have a tactic for corners, Every time we always try and aim deep for Lee's but its very readable and we've got no one capable of delivering a ball. half the time it hits the first man and the rest it sails out of play. Mickjj
Add throw ins to that list. It takes an age to take them, no one wants the ball or makes space so we end up just heaving it forward and hoping for the best.
delse0567
It's pathetic how bad we are at corners and free kicks, but also we have no one with the desire to get their head on the the ball these days. reda Johnson would have Took the risk of having his head kicked off to get on the end of a corner or free kick

mogbad
Do we have any plan at all full stop. Certainly not one that involves us imposing ourselves on the opposition in big matches, particularly at home where our tactics appear to be to invite the opposition to have a go. In 5 of the 6 home league matches this season we've conceded the opening goal within the first 25 mins, 4 of them in the first 10 minutes. Doesn't sound like any game plan that I'm aware of & certainly not one employed by any team looking at promotion.
GoldGigsChris
Even when we get a midfield free kick, we wait for the opposition to get into position and then pass back/sideways. Often taking it from further back than the actual fowl. No rush, no advantage, pointless.
snufkin123
Set pieces are SO precious, particularly in this league, and you know we will not make the most of them. How many times do corners or free kicks not beat the first defender ? We've got PROVEN goalscorers waiting in the box for a decent cross and they're not getting them. Ronnie Starling
The plan does seem to be hit the first man, wall or sent it through the back. We also often find ourselves defending a counter attack from the resulting corner. I get the impression that set pieces are not high on Carlos's list of priorities thinking that we can walk the ball into the net. Sadly we ain't that good.
