Bottling the big games

Recommended Posts

The comparisons with wenger are fair carlos seems like an intelligent guy and as is wenger and they lose focus on some of the uglier sides of the game.

Players like Reach, Rhodes, Van aken, etc seem like they'd be a dream to coach and they are all decent players but theyd all lose every time against a morgan type player. The best managers get players fired up and can do the more cynical side of the game better. A manager in the megson/warnock mold would have instructed their cb to clatter through clark every time and try and get him sent off. Theyd have been looking to lay one on brooks early. Its part of the game.

A megson type would have no interest in a rhodes type who is scared to take a pen. They wouldnt scower europe looking for a cb who can pass like bannan they want a defender who can defend.

Football is still a game about being brave manning up etc. Its not all about tippy tappy stuff its also about whos willing to get hurt to stop or score a goal. Fortune favours the brave particularly in the big games.
