Swfc v cologne

Recommended Posts

25 years they have gone without european football, 1993 last time we played in Europe? I make that 24 years. Reported 20,000 fans they took to arsenal night! Wonder if we can match that to a big German club in a couple of years?!

what a goal by cologne by the way well worth a watch

If you look on map, Cologne to London isn't as far as you'd think.

Takes 4 hours on the train and costs about £30 by rail.

Normal German league matches like Cologne to Berlin, Hamburg or Munich are similiar distances to travelling to London.

Have to say in the main it was brilliant support.  Seemed to go out of their way to be friendly from the couple of videos I have seen.  Amazing how they all wanted to go and how they so easily got tickets seemed to have caught the authorites out.  Brilliant goal as well, the fans will talk about it for years to come.

Sadly a few idiots tarnishned it.

Was there large scale trouble or large scale inconvience?

On a few occasions British fans have travelled in large numbers without tickets, 'just to be close to the ground'.

If there was large scale trouble then I bow to your better knowledge.

A main issue here is how 20000 Cologne fans allowed to travel when only approx 3000 tickets available to their club ? BT Sport were reporting that lots of Cologne fans had obtained seats in Arsenal designated areas ( and then joined their own fans by jumping over barriers), presumably via ticket touts, who bought up Arsenal tickets. Therefore, Arsenal fans just as much to blame and touts even worse for not bothering about the trouble they may cause. Touts need sorting out, before another football stadium disaster happens.

You can't stop them travelling as far as I know.  Perectly legal to have a day out in London with 19999 of ya mates.

Your point of touts is a valid one, in the same boat as players agents, taking out of the game instead of putting something in.

5 arrests would suggest that the majority of it was in good spirits. A large police presence, who actually looked like they rarely had to intervene!! Odd idiot trying to spoil things but looks like the whole situation was resolved amicably.

English press and social media stirring things to sell papers!!
