Well lets be honest they are all hen pecked and their wives rule the house with a rod of iron so they have to feel good about themselves for 10 minutes once in a while

Sounds like the voice of experience!

Really minor negative for me on Saturday was in the pub before and after the game singing this song referring to ourselves as woman beaters. I'm sure the majority of us can agree this is not something we particularly want being associated with Wednesday tbh.

Am I just being too soft or does anyone else get this?

10 pints wouldnt get you on The Realists coach . 16 pints minimum

..always sung it as disparaging song about other fans...Geordies/Scousers etc ... not at home though...married a Geordie and she would cut my b@ll@cks off if she heard me...

I think this was invented by comedy duo Hale and Pace in the 80s as a wee wee take of northerners.

The original lyrics were:

I go down't pub

I drink 10 pints

get absolutely plastered.

Then I go back home

and I beat up't wife

I'm a big fat northern B*****d!

Would you agree then that football rivalry is tame now and the worst of it is fuelled by aggressive policing and a stewarding tactics? Also the media.

No

I'd argue that football rivalry is fuelled by 10 pints

I thought the final line was "cos I'm a Yorkshire b******d!"
