Bannan and Jones

Recommended Posts

Do we want Carlos to put Hutch back in as soon as he is fit?

Food for thought....

Bannan & Jones - 5 wins and 2 draws in their past 7 partnerships.

Hutch in CM - 3 wins, 3 defeats and a draw in his past 7.

For me, Bannan and Jones look like more of a partnership. Hutch and Bannan are two excellent footballers who don't really gel as a pairing.

Jones may lack glamour, but you can't argue that this pairing doesn't work.

Jones has taken dogs abuse, but given a run of games I think he will settle and show some of his qualities , making it hard for Hutch to get back in

But what about in the last 8? Or does that completely ollox things up?

It's our best two man midfield partnership, while Lee is out injured.

But I'd be using the rest of the window is to try and bring in a better option to Jones.

He's a good player with valuable experience, but a little immobile.

Bring in someone who can keep things neat and tidy, but also be more combative and defensively disciplined. I've mentioned it another thread, but Bridcutt would be perfect. Modern midfielder who can play in a two, a three or a four.

I think there's more to the results than the players you mention.

But what I will say is that Jones looked much more confident than ever before today. A dummy here, a shimmy there, brave passing...looks like the player we thought we'd signed

They started playing again as a pair v Rotherham and have played 7 since.

But just for you (I am interested to see it too) I will look back further. Back soon!

Of course. You can't put any result or set of results down to one player or one partnership.

But I think a run of seven successful matches with the same midfield pairing is noteworthy.

I think we saw today the qualities that Jones has and Boyd has too. There's a reason these two lads have multiple promotions to the Premier League on their CV in the sense that they help their respective teams to results like todays, results that go a long way to getting you promoted.
