Judging from the fact that Lee and Abdi seem to be struggling for fitness, that'd be a central midfield pairing of Hutchinson and Jones, then?

100%.   dont think Jones has had a fair crack at it,  was brilliant for Burnley in this league

He's there in case we need him to defend a lead last 15/20 minutes. He's still a great option from the bench to hold the ball up, relieve pressure and defend set pieces.

I just dont see the point of him, he can't run, doesnt head the ball, doesnt score goals. If he is ever an option we are truly un-workable.

Apart from that he actually does non of those things.

O well I'll take a point but won't be surprised with a 2-0 Preston.

I'm sure I heard Carlos saying in pre-season that Fernando would be playing on the left.
Or are we going 4-5-1 with Rhodes playing the lone striker role that suits his game so well..?

Yep but seeing Reach start there every pre season game kind of gave away that he wasn't actually going to do that. I understand why he does it with Reach offering greater solidity but I can't help but feel we lose more than we gain by sticking FF up front where he often fails to get involved.

So you honestly think he would have picked him if fit ?

I reckon Carlos would love nothing more than to have a fully fit Abdi to select. Unfortunately for him, since spending a large portion of last summer's transfer budget on him, Abdi hasn't yet found full fitness for us.

Just seems again like CC is trying to fit his favs in to the team. Why people like Winnall and Abdi aren't on the bench is beyond me (presuming they are fit) he seems to want to fit Reach and FF in anywhere. I love them both but I would prefer Hooper to partner Rhodes.

Jones is quality, but he's nowhere near as creative or energetic as Bannan. If we're playing Hutchinson in there, then Jones would be the last partner I'd choose for him.

Defensively he's great in the air. When we are under pressure he is a great outlet as he holds it up better than anyone else in the squad. He should be seen as someone who can play a specialist role and help us see games out. If we need goals we have 2 other strikers we can bring on instead so it doesn't matter than he can't score as that's not what he's used for.

We'll agree to disagree then as I see none of those things.

Lets hope we dont need him and we win comfortably.

Not sure how you can say that as he absolutely does.

He does 1 useful thing in every 20 games. More than anything he just give fouls away after losing out in aerial battles. That's it. If you think he's a good addition to the team fair enough but I think he's way below the standard of what is required to our squad, the fact he's still involved makes me worry about Carlos and his approach to this season more and more.

Screams usual tactic of looking for a 1-0 win.

Shakes head in disbelief.

Please enlighten me how a 1-0 win wouldn't be a good result?

Damn that Carlos bloke, trying to win as many points as possible.
