Jimmy Seed Transfer August 2nd 1927

Recommended Posts

Put this on twitter earlier but though some may be interested in the transfer swap deal that involved Wednesday & Tottenham on this day in 1927.

Apprarently Wednesday had been chasing Jimmy Seed for some time and the only way they could lure him would be to offer the dependable Wednesday star Arthur Lowdell in exchange.

What was most poignant was the hell both men had gone through during the Great War which puts some modern footballers to shame.  What a couple of Legends!

Hope this is of some interest.

Without doubt Dunsby, you should be on a shortlist as curator at any future SWFC memorabilia museum (aswell as a couple of others on this site) You need to send all the hard work you undoubtedly put into this to the commercial department at the club... Well done!

A fascinating read about two exceptional footballers and remarkable men. Interesting to read about what they went through during the war and remarkable that they played on after that and to such a high extent too. Also Jimmy sounded like quite the cartoonist too. A interesting and very talented fellow, much like the multi-talented likes of Fred Spiksley and Ellis Rimmer.
