Given the sports they cover in America I expected a much better service. For me it's been no better than player and a couple of times much worse

This.  Quality of video nothing to write home about.  I'd say worse than Player .  At least with Player you'd get video quality control.

I may be in the minority here but have found that the stream on the Android app works flawlessly here in Abu Dhabi. Watching on my mac is a poorer quality and will buffer 2/3 times every 30 mins or so.

Yup, I explained to them that I was abroad for a period of several months and wouldn't be setting up a foreign bank account just so I can watch some football matches but that's how it is now apparently. I assume it's to try and stop people doing it with a VPN in the UK but I'm sure it will stop some people using the service at all. I'll maybe speak to them again if I try to give it another go but their approach seems draconian to me.

Did they say when they introduced this? I purchased using my uk debit card yesterday and worked fine.

Are you using a paid vpn?

Yes, I have a paid VPN because of where I live, but when I first tried to get set up with iFollow, I wasn't using a VPN at all. Because I'm a long haul flight away from the UK/ROI, I didn't expect to have use a VPN. But there were some issues with location settings on my computer which I led their website to treat me as if I was in the UK, ie only showing me an option to get an audio subscription. Nowhere did it offer me a chance to sign up for the £110 season pass. Therefore, because they wouldn't help me at the time and being desperate to watch the lads, I tried logging in with a VPN to see if that would bring up the season pass option. Lo and behold it did, so I signed up and it worked fine for a few games. As I am actually living overseas, I didn't think it unreasonable for me to try that route.

Then when the Brentford game came around, it wouldn't work. I explained my situation to them and expected them to help me get to the bottom of it, but instead they just sent a generic email saying that using a VPN isn't recommended. By the time I'd messed around with settings on my computer and IP checks showed me to be where I actually am, my subscription had been deleted. So I'm now without the subscription even though I've paid £110. Again I've contacted them but not heard anything for about 48 hours.

The support from iFollow was poor to say the least, bearing in mind that I'd paid the money and I am outside the UK/ROI as per their  rules. It's their support team's job to help customers after all, of which I am one. I'm going to see about getting a refund.

Why did you ask?  :duntmatter:

Because I wanted to understand why I was being blocked for using a VPN if other people are using a VPN from within the UK. If I was blocked, why are others still using VPNs no problem, even though they said any VPN use brings a temporary ban?

Exactly!!! it's like going to the cops and saying, "I've been growing marijuana in my guage for the past few weeks, I'm I ok to start selling it out side the local school?" :ghoulguy:

Kick a man when he's down why don't you! Bear in mind I live overseas and have paid £110 to watch live games. How would you feel if you were given the run around because of IT issues? I'm exactly the kind of person their product is designed for: an expat wanting to watch their team play live. They took my money and then failed to provide adequate suppot.

No not specifically, it was words to the effect of "we recently changed our terms and conditions to...".

It's possible they were just trying to put me off cancelling I suppose, or they've botched the introduction of the new restrictions if it worked for you yesterday.

It wouldn't let me use my UK credit card a few weeks ago so I had to use my foreign one. A bit annoying that they seem to now only accept foreign payment.

I used my UK debit card with no problems on Friday night? Watched the game using a vpn with no issues (well a bit of stuttering at times in the second half).

Just went to log in to download the highlights with Pale Moon and was met with this "Sorry, but you cannot sign in or register using private browsing mode. Please switch off private browsing and then try again." which is interesting because I'm not using any kind of private browsing mode. Working fine with Chrome.
